Orange colored viscous drip
97 C5 coupe AT
I have an orange colored oil based viscous liquid drip I believe is orginating at the A/C compressor. Wondering if this is the lubricant used here is orange in color or if I am chasing the wrong item. Any suggestions?
TIA

would most likely be antifreeze....dexcool is orange. The other possibility would be tranny fluid although it's more of a red color than orange and if the tranny fluid has many miles on it then it would be a darker red/brown color. My bet is you're seeing coolant.

i agree with Orion
have you had the car long?
If not, it could be that the A/C was leaking, a notorious LS1 problem, and they were hunting the leak with dye. That dye is usually green, but I wouldn't be surprised to see orange. That would be much more oily feeling than dexcool
