noise/smoke/lost power
Alright guys I got one for ya.
Changed the oil in my bird, took it out for a cruise. Next day I'm on a country road behind a slow car and give it gas enough to hit the passing gear hard but I don't go WOT. Now my car backfires twice and I get a huge cloud of white smoke and I lose power big time!!
Symptoms:
Milky residue on my oil cap
White puffs out the oil breather at idle
Lost power
Tick/tapping sound from engine
Throttle body had grime residue
and the exhaust smells potent like its concentrated
I've had mechanics say bad head gasket another say cracked head and another say flat cam or bent pushrod bad valve.
If anyone has been through this please share your findings to the problem.
And no the oil wasn't milky when I drained it

Sounds like the head gasket crapped out.
Had this happen on a couple different engines.
White fog like smoke from the exhaust can be a good indicator.
The engine noise, loss of power, and milky like substance under the oil cap is also.
I would stop running it as you can damage the engine if it is'nt already.
Whether it's a cracked head, bad head gasket, (not likely to be caused by a bent push rod or valve alone though),
you'll need to tear into the engine reguardless to service either issue.Last edited by Smittro; 01-29-2012 at 03:36 AM.

For now its parked :'( but I haven't been able to determine if the fog like smoke it making it out of the tail pipes due to the humidity and weather temps around here.

If you have a white cloud coming from your exhaust on start-up you can count on finding coolant evidence in the cylinders. How bad it is has be determined by a tear-down. BTDT.
