Denial is not just a river IN EGYPT! lol
Its got a warranty so.......if it breaks its just the time to change it.

i never said you couldn't do it and i never said that it was detrimental to your vehicle...i just said that it was overkill. there's no reason or need to change all your fluids annually. every 2-3 years on most fluids...anything more often than that and you're just pissing money away. kinda like changing your oil every 1500 miles. not bad for your car...just a complete waste of time and money.

Depends. For instance, AMSOIL does list some things that would limit the service life. Here is a link to the 5w-30 product page - http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?z...storefront/asl

I'd rather change my oil 3-4x a year with supertech than trying to find amsoil.

Your engine will likely last over 100k with proper up keep no matter what oil you choose...
That's a fact..

i laugh like hell when people come into work and get bent out of shape when we don't have amsoil on the shelf. but nobody around here does. it's all independent dealers. and then when i tell them the 2 or 3 that i know of within a 30 mile radius they get even pissier and say things like "i'm not going all the way out there for it." what's really funny is "all the way out there" is either 20 miles away for the far away dealer or 5 miles away for the nearby dealer.

That is interesting. Is that because you guys don't want to or because none of the local dealers have tried to set up a Retail account for you? Lot's of times the dealers would have to order it for you anyway... I keep product on hand for local guys, and if I don't have it we keep a small warehouse pretty well stocked so I can get it in a day...

Red Tint Jewelcoat- 2008 Trailblazer SS
I stopped reading this thread at this post.
Every 5K miles. Each car gets fresh Mobil 1 and new filter every 5K miles.
Fuck Pennzoil Platinum and the awesome consumption that began when I started using it.
GM will warranty my LS2 for 100K miles if I can show Mobil 1 changes......but won't if I use PP. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......

Funny. My car was just the opposite. Only time it ever consumed any oil was using Mobil 1.

I am not trying to undermine any opinions or any oil.
I do know a couple things. GM will NOT warranty a vehicle that has been using Pennzoil Platinum. It will if it has been using Pennzoil Ultra......or Mobil 1.
The 402 in my former T/A had zero problems with consumption on Mobil 1, ate oil like mad on PP. Never tried Ultra.
For the time being, I will go with what GM says will keep my warranty. Not what a oil paid person like Serge says......

Feel free.
My TBSS has been to a few different dealers for a few different issues (mostly paint/bumper/air compressor). All said the same.
Not saying I know the 100% truth, but they do have approved oils. Apparently Pennzoil Platinum is not one of them.

Says right in my owners manual any oil in the correct viscosity bearing the API starburst symbol is approved. Should not be hard for you to find somewhere on this vast internet in writing that PP voids the warranty.

Not even going to try....
I am assuming we have different year vehicles at this point anyways.... (my current one being '08)
It is pretty simple to me. Different motors will have different tolerances. My TSP 402 ate up PP like I drink water, it didn't "drink" Mobil 1.
I am not defending any oil. If you change at 5K with a synthetic you will be fine for well over 100K regardless.
Not sure if it is a factory fill thing, or something the local (all three of them) dealers are telling me.
But after the experience I had with PP in my T/A, I will stick with Mobil 1. Overpriced???? Yeah, it is. But neither of my vehicles are burning it like they did the PP.....
I do believe this forum previously had someone on the payroll for a particular company at some point or another........
**AGAIN...NOT SAYING PP IS BAD!!!!**

This seems to say the opposite: http://www.imakenews.com/lng/e_article001820574.cfm
Dexos is required for all GM Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC vehicles starting with the 2011 model year. Shell’s initial Dexos licensed offerings are Pennzoil Platinum and Quaker State Ultimate Durability synthetic engine oils.

If I cared.....I would care.....

I am going with what I was told and what my experiences have shown me. I will pay the extra $1 per 5 quarts to keep my receipts showing what the local stealerships say. Basic stuff....just in case.

What does the owners manual for your 08 say on oil requirements?

The Chrysler dealership told my father to keep his car under warranty he had to use a Chrsler oil filter. I laughed. He does it anyway.
