Grey- 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS CGM
Guess im gonna be canceling netflix.
Just got this email from them, yeah you can go fuck yourself netflix not going to pay 18 bucks a month when i can get em for a buck at redbox. This seems stupid to me.
Dear,
We are separating unlimited DVDs by mail and unlimited streaming into two separate plans to better reflect the costs of each. Now our members have a choice: a streaming only plan, a DVD only plan, or both.
Your current $11.99 a month membership for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs (including Blu-ray access) will be split into 2 distinct plans:
Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month
Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs (including Blu-ray), 1 out at-a-time (no streaming)
for $9.99 a month
Your price for getting both of these plans will be $17.98 a month ($7.99 + $9.99). You don't need to do anything to continue your memberships for both unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs.
These prices will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011.
You can easily change or cancel your unlimited streaming plan, unlimited DVD plan, or both, by going to the Plan Change page in Your Account.
We realize you have many choices for home entertainment, and we thank you for your business. As always, if you have questions, please feel free to call us at 1-888-357-1516.

I use the streaming, no DVDs. Looks like the price for that is staying the same. I wouldn't pay that much for the DVDs now either.

I'll be canceling as well.
With a web-enabled TV, there is so much online content available that we rarely watch Netflix anymore.
For movies, try Crackle.

Can you get Crackle on Xbox or PS3?
My TV is not web enabled.

Red box is great until you want a movie that didn't come out over the past 2 years.

Stream only for me... use it all the time. If there's a new movie i want to see, than i make a visit to redbox... and cross my fingers there is a copy available.

I got the email today too. I had been thinking about ditching the DVD aspect anyways. I will be streaming only now.

i don't see the need for the pissing and moaning about this. netflix stated months ago that they were going to eventually phase out dvd service and go fully streaming as the streaming market was making large inraods to the conventional dvd format. realistically...everyone knew that something like this was coming. eventually netflix will make everything available via streaming access and very few things available dvd only...it will just take time for that conversion to take place. in the meantime i think that they will continue to do what they have already been doing. rotating their dvd stock to streaming availability for certain periods of time and then back to dvd format. again...eventually everything in their inventory will go streaming and dvd will be dead. i would dare say that blockbuster, family video and all the other conventional brick and mortar video rental stores will be forced to begin making the transfer to a streaming format...at least for things like new releases...as netflix continues to push ahead and do what it does.

I remember when I was a little boy, probably 9 or 10 years old, when we first got Prodigy over the phone line into the giant box IBM loaned my dad, an IBM employee.
I thought he was nuts when he told me eventually there won't be anymore movie stores (Blockbuster, anyone?) and Best Buy will stop selling CDs (which were pretty doggone new then) and we'd get anything and everything through internet services like Prodigy.
I'm still ignoring him, though. I don't have internet or cable TV.

I'm gonna ditch the steaming. For me...Netflix gives me the opportunity to view the newest movies. I've been a Netflix member a few years and already watched all the movies I've missed from the past. Which is basically what the streaming provides...they don't stream the latest released movies. I have a cheap blu-ray player so I'll continue with the dvd/blu-ray plan. Streaming was nice but hardly use it. So here's a big F.U. to Netflix and their passion for greed.
