I honestly dont remember the last time I used the key in my door. I can remember the first time i used my key in the trunk, though. It was last weekend, and i was happy to remember that the key will open it, cause I had the battery disconnected. The keys will wear out, and it seems like they won't open the door if it is raining. That's the first sign. It sounds like your cylinder is worn out. The two sides are probably interchangeable. You are gonna have to take it off to start, so pull it and soak it. By then Jay will tell you if you can just swap the sides. Otherwise a locksmith should be able to repin a new one.

Being from PA means salted roads if you drive her in winter.
Corrosian is likely @ play here even if you don't run it in winter.
Moisture gets into everything and if you mostly or mainly use your fob,
to open locked doors corrosion is likely built up inside them.
You can lube them with penetrating oil and work the key in and out/back and forth to free them up.
Just remember to get the extra oil off the paint.Last edited by Smittro; 06-16-2011 at 04:37 PM.

I agree with the penetrating oil solution. Or graphite lube.
