1st Gen Vipers are not pleasant to drive and were pretty rough around the edges. (ergonomics, loud as hell)

I agree with whoever said C5ZO6 first, and then very closely behind is the '03-'04 Cobra.

I don't like the look of c5 z, I would take a normal c5 with a targa put c6 zo6 sways shocks and brakes under it. Good head and cam package of a supercharger. ( heads and cam cheaper. And you have an amazing car for right at 20 k ( more if supercharged in most cases.but modded used cars do exist.

So definitley a c5 vette it's what I did.!

the terminator is similar in straight line speed to the c5z06, and you can get into the 500 rwhp territory extremely easy. However the c5z06 is an upper level car and the handling is STILL world class. The overall performance of the c5z06 is superior. THe powerband and gearing of the z06 is also amazing. The z06 makes the most out of the power it has, GM did really well with the whole package in this car. I wouldnt even consider the viper unless I was an old dude that planned on never driving it, or was retired, or was just collecting the car. Theres nothing that particular viper does better then either the ford or chevy in this case.

That being said, I'd take the terminator if only for the fact that 500+hp with just bolt ons is a beautiful thing. I'd get the vette if I lived in an all year warm weather climate.

Some magazines test them in the 12.8s but the reality of it is the C5Z06 is a low 12s car and if you look many are in the 11s bone stock. Cobras are rated at 12.8 but most I ever see stock run around 13 flat. Not saying some are not faster because they are.

You are right, no matter what the Corvette will show tail lights to the COBRA due to the suspension and weight. Awesome machines in both regards but the Vette is the clear winner. Hell it even has a trunk! lol

Have you looked closely at a '93-'95 Viper?

Little things like no exterior door handles could be discouraging.

Not to mention that it is no faster than a stock LS1 F-body, with most testers getting 13.2-13.0 quarter mile times.

Also check on insurance. The early Vipers with the one-piece front end were one of the most expensive vehicles to insure, which is one of the reasons Dodge built later models with a hood and fenders.

The '96 and up got the more powerful engine.
