not bad, I was looking at it to when I was shopping for an intake. It's kinda in between the LS6 and Fast intakes.

That intake is AL right? So therefore, it will be a heat sink over the composite intakes. I've heard good things about it, but I believe this is why most people go with the LS6 or FAST set-up.
People going FI with big boost get the AL intake from what I've seen.

I have one and I love it. It does get warmer than the composite intakes, but it doesn't make any kind of noticeable difference in the way it performs. I am glad I chose it and installation was a breeze.

If it gets warmer, doesn't that mean your IAT's are warmer which DOES hinder performance? I personally wouldn't get something because it "looks cooler" (no pun intended)

I still lol'd.
According to my Jeep site on their 5.2/5.9, the IAT getting heat soaked causes a loss of a dyno proven 3-5 HP. Getting heat soaked leads to leaning out the A/F mix. For the Jeep, it just meant relocating it, but the concept works the same on any motor I would imagine.

Correct...hotter air = less power = more chance of detonation due to lean mixture.

On a side note...it does look pretty badass

for a loss of 3-5 hp...id still choose the bbk because of the price....i dont plan on building a race car....just want a little more performance and to also make my engine bay look beautiful....this piece seems to be ideal for what i am trying to accomplish....i like the fast, but not the $800+ it costs....and it seems that the ls6 intakes have gone up in price lately.....some on ebay even more expensive than the bbk.

TRIPLE BLACK- 2000 CAMARO SS M6 #2100
Just to let you know, I bought my BBK SSI from New Era Performance for only $399. Not sure if they still have it for that price but imo you cant beat this manifold for that price. I really like that there is plenty of room for future porting and it has the burst plate on the bottom incase you run N2O and have a nasty backfire it wont ruin your intake/TB/etc.
EDIT: I just checked the website and its $499 now. Im glad I bought mine when I didLast edited by BLK2KSS; 05-06-2011 at 04:16 AM.

Most are anywhere from $469 and up. I figure even with the added heat, you may loose 5hp max and according to all dyno information I have read that would still put this intake on par or better than the LS6 gains and it looks better.

The 3-5HP was from the sensor getting heat soaked, I would imagine it might be slightly higher when your whole intake is heat soaked. But, once again, minimal amounts more.
The FAST setup is an investment, ~$1300 just for the intake and TB.
If your going to re-do intake, I'd look into getting ride of the sh1it pvc system we have. http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread...&highlight=ls6
Also make sure to replace knock sensors.Last edited by KMdef9; 05-06-2011 at 09:07 AM. Reason: Found link
