I wouldn't call it lazy...I'd call it smart, especially if you ever plan on needing to service a pump. It's not like you can see it.

Whens the last time your fuel filter was changed?

A clogged filter will give you the same problems.

Also a cheap method to figure out bad gas is to put in HEET or Seafoam gas treatment in your tank. In about 5 mins of idling your car will begin to smooth out.

Also I make it a habit of not taking any gas while they are servicing the tanks or pumps.

Usually means the fuel is contaminated or will be after they finish working on the system.

    Not criticizing, just saying...

Last weekend someone dumped something in my gas tank... and the car was acting exactly the same way... its in the shop right now... dropped the tank and they found lots of crap in the tank that they don't know what it is... so its looking like a flushed tank.. .new F/P.. new F/F.. and hopefully thats it... waiting to hear back.... Good luck with your car!

(Picked up a locking cap to prevent this from happening again... )

This and an increase of ppl stealing gas from cars at night in my area has me thinking of getting new locking gas caps.

I'd recommend it... Not only can they take out... But as I've shown, they can put in causing WAY more expense.... I had to learn the hard way... Hopefully others dint have to.... :-(

have you checked your fuel pressure yet? I know you said you don't have a guage but you can rent one at the auto parts. When was the last time your did your plug and wires? and have you cleaned the MAF like suggested before?

how many miles on those plugs? check the fuel presure and its good i will suggest to replace them. You mention that you are getting misfiring code. check the fuel pressure, clean the MAF and if you still have the issue give the plugs a try.
