Still trying to fathom how you figure idle is the hardest on the engine While it wastes gas and doesn't really help you're oil, there is absolutely nothing wrong with idling the car. Now I ain't talking idling for days on end but even if you were to idle it to full temp isn't going to hurt a thing with a properly running car. Notice I said properly running because if you are running super rich then you can risk cylinder wash.
Idling normal car til temp equals no harm no foul except for wasting gas and time.┌∩┐(◕_◕)┌∩┐

How do I start it. Put her in 2nd, get her rolling good and POP the clutch. Bam! Gurgles right to life.
I used to start it and let it sit for a few minutes. Really isn't beneficial at all. Typically nowadays I just start and give it 15 sec or so. Just take it easy on her until she warms up.

I usually warm mine up pretty good first.. You'll get 100k+ out of them reguardless..
