Fastest car there was an older camaro with a big block and 3 stages of nitrous..

1st pass was 7.00 @ 199
2nd pass was a 6.95 @??? (I forget)

1 thing I liked about LA was the dense air at night. here in the PHX it's usually around 3000-3500. I mostly run in the winter cuz it gets down to 1000 ft or so.

Every 1000 feet makes the car ~.1 second slower...

I have heard people call Atco "the cheater's track" because supposedly from start to finish, the track slightly slopes downhill. Others say the track is completely level. I have only been there once as a spectator. So I cannot confirm what others have said.

If it's the one I am thinking of, it's a 69. I saw that car run years ago at Island. Car was late for test/tune but when that car ran, it SCREAMED and almost bounced off both retaining walls. I think with all the fighting to keep the car straight, it ran a 9 second quarter. My friend and I looked at each other like

When they (Brotherhood of Street Racers) set up shop on Terminal Island (sea level) we got negative DA all the time. This was back in the late 80's - early 90's...

Carlsbad Raceway (RIP) in SoCal was just the opposite. Finish line was 5' higher than the start line...

TRP (Tulsa Raceway Park) starts at 672' and stays there thru the lights. Right after the lights it goes up to 700' or 710'. Part of that is to help in some slow down before the sand trap.

We get -DA's here early spring,fall and winter. Track closes the week before x-mas. Nothing like running in -1000 DA..
