About crankcase vacuum
I was browsing forums today and I found a thread on bad piston rings. Well in the thread it talked about taking your oil cap and checking for smoke and if there is air or oil blowing out that means the rings are bad. So figured just for shits and giggles I would try it. I was bored. Well good news is no smoke or blowby, but I didn't really feel vacuum. So I put a shop towel over the oil filler and sure enough it dipped down. Vacuum! But I'm wondering: how much vacuum is there supposed to be? Should my crankcase have sucked the shop towel like a shop vac? Lol

The little vacuum line behind the TB on the intake, is the breather. It's minimal... That's also how the oil gets inside the intakes...

I just took my ls1 intake off because i am swapping with an ls6 intake and the ls1 intake was full of oil. Now im waiting on the catch can, this should solve the problem.

Il probably tear it apart and work a filter into the return line side of the can

I was thinking about sticking a little filter on the fresh air hose since I'll be running a single can setup.....

OP,
look at this thread. This is 6 weeks after I did the LS6 VCT mod and installed a catch can.
The CC does catch a lot of oil that would have gone into the LS6 intake.

If you got the same CC as me you will not need a breather. It already has a internal filter material that the oil catches on and drips to the bottom from there.

My Pass side valve cover has mad vacuum. It's so bad that I can hardly get the oil fill cap out. In fact, I had a whistling sound coming from the motor. I thought it was a belt slipping. Turns out that it was the valve cover sucking air in through the oil filler o-ring. Is this normal/good or do I have some issue with the intake?
I corrected the issue by installing a breather filter in place of the oil fill cap. Whistle is gone....
