Sunset Orange- 2002 Trans Am
Question
I just noticed a small hose, approx. 1/4-3/8 in. coming over the transmission and from the passenger side then drooping over the driver's side exhaust pipe. It is seeping a light amount of oil so that makes me think it might be part of the PCV system. I tried tracing it back to it's origin but too much stuff in the way to determine that. Could only trace it as far as the front of the tranny (A4) where it attaches to a T-connecter. I have a Haynes repair manual and have scoured the internet but cannot find any complete diagrams of hose routing. Thoughts? Anyone?

can you post a pic?
Sounds like the trans cooler. This is one time a pic helps and no it is not part of the PCV system.
The PCV comes from the rear drivers side valve cover runs behind the intake where it splits. One tube goes to the passenger rear valve cover and the other runs along the passenger side of the intake, connects to the PCV and then goes to the intake.Last edited by SMWS6TA; 04-22-2011 at 12:26 PM.

I believe PAJeff dealt with that line once..
There should be a thread around that he took pics of iirc..
I wish I could remember what it was for..
Maybe shoot him a PM..

Thanks for the input. I've recently noticed some drops of oil under the vehicle and after an oil change last week a few more drops of clear oil. I had the car up on jack stands today and could not find any evidence of leaking oil except from the hose. I'll do the tissue test for oil color and try to get a picture posted tomorrow sometime.

Thanks! That looks like it. The clips on the hose on the bottom pic look very familiar. I'll check that in the morning.

Thanks to all who responded. It was indeed the vent line from the transmission and is now back in place. Apparently the mechanic who replaced the pinion seal recently forgot to clip it back where it belongs.
