What is fair for this?
I'm bout to buy another F body. Its a 1998 Z28 with 103K, and a brand new 383 stroker/moser 9 inch/ built 6 speed tranny and some suspension stuff. The only thing wrong with the car are a few cosmetic things in the paint, it needs a tune but runs (I would get my tuner to retune it anyways) and the gages dont work. He's asking 7500 for it, is that a decent deal?

Are their any receipts for the work? Or do you know the shop that performed the work?
If the stroker motor was done correctly with name brand parts along with a reputable shop, it's not cheap to do. Couple that with building a T56 (if done right with good parts) and you can easily tally up more than that asking price of $7500 for the engine and trans alone.
A drop in 9" rear is another $2500 or higher.
Just depends on how you want to look at it. But from what I'm gathering here, the drivetrain alone probably costs more if you did it yourself.
Sounds like a good start on a fun track car.

The car needs a compressor I found out, the interior is a little worn but not bad.. The panhard bar needs to be adjusted, and exhaustt need to be installed(right now it has open headers)Also both window motors are out. So I do have a little work to do to get it roadworthy. Basically he never got around to finishing the project and has to get rid of it fast for family reasons. I didnt know if I should offer a little less for all the small PITA issues. (I Fucking hate window motors.) But its all little stuff I can do mostly myself. Im gonna go ahead and buy it, I just was a little wary. Since he has proof of the work it makes me feel better. He was asking 10K to begin with but has been trying to sell it for a while.

If you got the money, I wouldn't low ball someone that is pretty much giving you a steal and desperately needs money, but it's up to you.

Well I bought it, guy delivered it to me yesterday. The clutch slips like crazy, but I got an extra one with the car, plus about 2000$ worth of extra UMI stuff and 2 sets of extra wheels. Theres one rust spot on the left rear quarter. The motor runs great though, and the transmission and rear end are tight. Only 103K on the chassis.

I'd like an adjustable torque arm with the bracket that lets you relocate it away from the transmission, so there's no strain on the transmission.
