I remember when the ls9 was talked about gm said they had plans to discontinue the ls7 as it would be too expensive to have 2 different engines being hand built...but here we are now and on top of the ls7 and ls9..the ls3s in the gs are handbuilt too.

Only the 6-speed GS cars.

I hate to deal with any GM warranty issue. My GTO was pure hell to get worked on and my Jeep was easy as pie. Had to call GM and file a complaint and then had to go to a different dealership! lol

Yup....but you can imagine the extra cost in man power for that....I've never understood why they decided to do that

Very true.

Like you said I can see them dropping the Z06 engine in favor of using a single displacement for all the enginers but with variations in compression, cam lift, head flow, intakes, power adders.......etc Sure would make sense to do some standardization. Cheaper production costs.
