brillo pad might scratch the tips, so consider passing on them.
0000-steel wool is very fine and wont. personally, i would wash and use aluminum wheel polish on the stainless steel tips.
if your tips are chrome, clean and use chrome polish.

The guy I bought my 00 SS from polished his all the way to the muffler...even the muffler. I didnt believe him until I bought it and took it home. Looked under the car and by God, he was right.

I use Wenol on all my stainless steel for touch up work.
The factory dual/dual tips (on one of our SS's) didn't come with a high shine though. Looking close they are more of a roughed stainless, not smooth enough to produce a high luster shine that you would find on,,,say,,,,stainless trim body moldings.
They would require some mild sanding down to 2,000 grit and then stick them on the buffing wheel with some stainless rouge polish to bring them to a high shine.
That's how I do all the stainless trim on the classic cars, comes out looking like chrome if you do it right and spend some time with it.

Jack stands, Mothers polish and a few rags. You can get a mirror shine from the entire system.

I know you can, I have done mine, and there probably isn't anyone on here that has put more time and effort into the undercarriage of their car than me, PaJeff also has put a tremendous amount of time and effort into his undercarriage. It can be done with Mothers and steel wool.
