Lol. Well, maybe GM can redeem themselves with the Z28........ maybe.
Not sure how Ford is gonna play this one out though. If I was looking for a supercar (lol, in my dreams......), I really wouldn't care whether it's a hybrid or not. And people who are looking for a hybrid are probably not going to consider a supercar. Trying to appeal to two completely opposite demographics is not going to work.

Actually, if you think about it, going hybrid is actually a good move for the supercar makers. Consider the kind of instant torque you can get out of the electric motors. It can certainly add to the performance, and then the 'green'(er) image they foster is a nice bonus...
I just wish that Chevy had kept the Volt looking bad-ass like the initial concepts, instead of the eventual Prius-esque thing they turned it into.

disagree here.. the concept was way too sylized and boxy, the roof life was nice, but everything on it looked like a collage of magazine cutouts and didn't fit together well.
ex: small face grill and headlights.
edit: definatley no arguement about the real thing looking 'priusy', GM could have definately done better..Last edited by justinmc978; 02-07-2011 at 11:50 AM.

That's apples and oranges. The better question is, would you pay $84,000 for the GTR or say $94,000 for a hybrid GTR? And yeah, in those prices, I would pay another 10 grand or whatever for a hybrid version. Just because you don't buy a supercar for the stellar mileage doesn't mean you can't aim for more if it's available...

Yeah the Prius has made the word 'hybrid' synonymous with 'low power high mileage eco-friendly green hippy family car'... but that's not what the word has to mean...

The fact is Hybrid cars are currently a waste of time and money..
It's been proven the over all cost to maintain a hybrid car is more expensive than it's gasoline counter part..
It's also been proven absurd to think you'll ever see consisant max mpg's of 40-50mi. per gal..
It IS however more likely that you'll see mpg's consistant with any comparable car of the same class..
Meaning,, it's currently all a gimick..
Makes the tree hugging carbon fairy's happy and nothing more..
Just as putting a tin can of mesh into the exhaust stream somehow makes things better for the air...
Maybe if the world were flat.............Last edited by Smittro; 02-08-2011 at 04:13 AM.
