5mpg and no codes!!!!(2000 zr2)
HEY all.......im looking for help to aid in fixing my truck and thought ls1 guys would be smarter than the idiots on s10forum
my truck tore apart waiting for parts stores to open
but my 2000 zr2 is getting close to 5mpg and im fed up
so far ive done;
--cap/rotor
--ac-delco platunum plugs
--ac-delco wires
--new TB
--IAC replaced
--IAT replaced
--fuel pump
--fuel filter
--ign coil
--ign module
So i started tearing the top end of the intake apart to see MOST of my o-rings had been leaking and i found dirt on my fuel pressure regulator!!!! The spider assembly had RTV around it so it would seal to intake
The MAP sensor was really loose but other than these issues i dont see puddling of fuel or even pressurized nothing drips.
I ran my diagnostics tool on it and all sensors are reading correctly and within specs.......The oxygen sensors are working correctly also.
PLEASE help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cannot afford to drive my truck now and its my only ride to work right now
so far all have been replaced:
--MAF
--MAP sensor
--fuel pump(gauge still shows 41-51psi......)
--fuel filter
--air filter
--MPFI KIT(replaces JUNK spider setup)
--spark plugs
--wires
--cap/rotor

This might be a stretch..........but, do you have a fuel leak somewhere that you can't see?

Get a scanner on that thing and let's check out your short (STFT) and long (LTFT) term fuel trims.

no codes and only thing really obvious is the fuel trims being 8-10% plus
and there are no lines wet from tank to motor

How does it rev? My truck is getting shitty mileage and wont rev past 3500 with a load on it.
Figured out that the cats are clogged up, so off they come in a day or two.
I've got a 1996 Chebby 1/2 ton with the tree fiddy.

Looks like the trims are running in the negative, so the PCM is pulling fuel, not adding it. I agree, you have to find the root cause of the fueling issue, the trims are simply a quick way of seeing what the PCM is thinking.
Next step -- pull some plugs and see if they are black. That would indicate a rich combustion mixture. Tan or brown is on the money, totally clean, white or speckled means lean.

How long had it been running in those scanner shots? Is it getting fully warned up? The GTP would guzzle gas in the winter the colder stats. Just a thought
