GM and Ford are closing down plants because they have to, not because they want to. They don't have the financial resources to keep them open anymore. Maybe if people would give Domestic cars a second look when buying a new vehicle instead of just going straight for an import, they wouldn't be in this predicament

Many of the newer GM vehicles are just as nicer or even better than their import competition, yet useless magazines like Consumer Reports have brainwashed consumers that Domestic = bad. Vehicles like the new Impala, Tahoe, and HHR are just a few examples of excellent American vehicles. But nobody will buy one if they are too ignorant to even set foot in a Chevrolet Dealership

Ahh...I see. The American consumer is stupid. Because of a magazine they bought cars that were vastly inferior to Domestic counterparts? Fact is that for a VERY long time Domestic cars were inferior in fit and finish and overall quality than the Import counter parts. They have DEFINITELY improved lately but it took some time and now the companies are feeling the effects of that. NO one would buy an inferior product for and extended period time if there was something better out there for the same money. People just arent BLINDLY brand loyal anymore, they shop for the highest quality product in their price range. If you keep putting out a crappy product people arent going to buy it. Maybe you should give the American consumer a bit more credit.

Oh, and they are only closing factories in AMERICA. No closures are happening in other countries.

A pretty penny. The car is completely customized, not many stock items left. Majority of the cash was spent on paint, body work and interior. The engine came from a previous Supra I had so I didnt spend much in that department. Just added cams, 3.5 inch exhaust and downpipe.
    Engine came from this one:

Nothing like a hot blonde in a Mustang. She will pull up next to my import, and think she is faster (like most guys in domestics) and when I win, the look on their face is priceless... I don't car what car a hot chick is driving. If she is hot, I could careless about checking out her car lol.

Too bad her car would still look 10x better...

Not to mention you're car stock is slower than an 05 GT unless you launch it at like 6K

Ummm, no. My car stock launching hard, but not 6k, will run low 13s opposed to a GT running high 13s. So I don't see how I'd lose? As for looks, I think the new Mustang looks like ass. Looks are in the eye of the beholder...

I think Trans Ams look butt ugly, which is why I didn't get one. You obviously like how they look so you got one.

The more you post, the more you look like the typical ignorant domestic owner. Don't think I am trying to start shit, cause I own an import. I hang out with plent of Mustang and LSx guys. I tend to like more domestic owners over import owners. Unlike all the Honduh bois out there who think their car is fast, the domestic owners can run a 12.xx and say damn my car is slow. I, however, don't like fan bois, which you seem like you might be.

Now is funny. An import owner with the username "V8This" is coming on the LS1 forums and calling people out as "ignorant Domestic owners" because people don't like the way nis factory rice car looks

I'm sorry man, but I think 90% of the people on this board would agree that the new Mustang and LS1 Trans Am look a hell of a lot better than an STI. And even if they didn't like the looks more, they would at least have to admit that the styling is more tasteful. I mean come on, your car is a 4 door sedan with a massive wing sticking off the back

And for the record, new Mustang GT's run about 13.5 when equipped with a manual trans. You're car stock will only run low 13's with an extremely hard (6K) launch, if you ease if off the line instead of trashing the drivetrain with a high RPM clutchdrop, its only going to run high 13's.

I don't care if people on this forum like the Mustang or a Trans Am more than my car. I have said that different people like different things. I like my car more than a Trans Am and you are different, because we have different tastes. I use V8This as my username on any forum, so don't think you are special. My car may be a 4-door sedan with a large wing, but it gives your sports car one hell of a fight... I can do decent in a strait line and still be able to rip it up around the track. As I have said before, I bought the car for AutoX and not 1/4 mile...

Have you even been in an STi? If you slip the clutch the right way, yes slip it not pop it, you will get a low 13s time bone stock. There was a guy that did a 6k drop with just a cat back and ran a 12.7. Catbacks, don't do much for the STi since the downpipe is so restrictive.

I have never once said the Trans Am, Camaro, or anything like that is a bad car. I have sad I don't like the looks of them, but I would still own them. I love the LS series engine and hopefully will have one in the next few months, whether it be in a Camaro or a Vette, I do not know.

Ahem.....I was about to buy an 06 STI...nice car....but one romp down the street in a 2000 T/A M6 was all it took.
That motion of the ocean on a hard 1-2 shift from WOT.....damn....
Look boys, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I do however think that a 4-door with a wing the size of my airliner looks retarded

Atleast it is functional at the track for a road course or rally course... However, I have been trying to find a white wingless trunk to swap with. It's funny cause all the STi guys don't want their wing and all the non STi guys do want the wing...

I'd say just PM one of those guys with the RS or whatever that base model was and ask them if they want to swap. That, or hit up the junk yard.

    Damn, double post.
So i'll fill it with this:
The STi is nice and all, but IMO, the trans am and the new stangs look much better. However, i wouldn't mind having any of these cars

The STIs and Evos are not the best looking cars in the world, but at least everything about their looks is functional ie. the high spoiler, vortex generator, hood scoop, air dam. As many of you know, there are some cars out there with added on body pieces that does absolutely nothing ie. the last generation mustang with the sick on hood scoop. One person's garbage is another person's dream. Drive what you like and respect other driver's decisions.
