A In Theory Question
I was going to form this in a Poll type post but I don't see how to create it as that.
But let's say they moved production of the Corvette to China, and the cost of a Corvette dropped to $30K for a base model. Would you be more likely to buy it now or less likely to buy it?

$20k for a new vette you say?
no, because there would be 50x as many of them running around as there are now, they'd be like mustangs or corollas

Hmmm....a $30k corvette or a $30k 2011 Mustang GT. You raise an interesting question!
I'm torn for sure...but for that kind of money I'd probably get the corvette.

On a side note, I found a red C5 FRC on Atlanta's craigslist with 52k miles for $16k. We won't be back in Atlanta until 2012, but damn I want this soooo bad. If we were back there right now, I'd already have it in my garage. Cash on the barrel.

Yea Mustangs are assembled in the USA but all their parts come from Mexico. Camaro is made in Canada, but parts from Mexico. And the vette is a mix match bunch of parts from Canada and Mexico. Even the AC Delco parts on any American car are probably made in Mexico now. Now if the Vette was made in Japan, and still cost $50K+, would that make a difference? Something tells me it would sell better than it does today.

Yeah so really what would be the difference. Its already most all china or mexico parts in your so called USA built vehicle. I would probably pick up a used one in a few years to see how they hold up. I would not be picking up the first model year that was built in china.

GM would never move their flagship car to be assemble in China. It would kill the name and the Corvette. The repercussions and backlash would be enormous.
Besides the Camaro is for all of us sheep to have an affordable option without compromising the Corvette. That's why you will not see a V6 stripped down Vette ever again.
