the 05-06's are LS2's.....not a bad way to go really. The G8 definitely doesn't have the wow factor that the GTO does when you're in it. My brother was going to buy a G8 when they first came out and I talked him into test driving a G8 and a GTO.....GTO won hands done. The G8 feels like you're borrowing your wifes car.

im looking for a 4 door so the gto is out..personally i am not a big fan of the gto ..the 05-06 helped a little with the hood..but it just never excited me that much...a g8 gxp i am sure will excite more than a normal g8 or g8 GT. i dont know too many wife's cars that when tuned will run 12.8 or lower

more to a car than time slips.....I would recommend you do just like my brother. Drive both. The G8, as a car, is not even close to being as exciting as a GTO. If you gotta have the 4 door that's understandable but for that performance car feeling the G8 doesn't have it.

a guy in town ran 10s in his. Twin turbo, fuel upgrades and built tranny is basically all it took, according to him. Might of had a mild blower cam.

Actually justin I wouldn't but I wouldn't mind getting in those pants just to drive that damn thing it sounds good as hell to. I was surprised as hell when she pulled up and I asked her what she had done to it, she goes oh I had a ls1 dropped in it was a 12 bolt t-56 tranny stage three heads cam fast intake. I was blown away by how much she knew about it I figured she just bought it like it was.

I know the ls3 is a monster and all but the g is heavy stock for stock they are about the same as an fbody sure you can mod it and make it really fast but then again you could do that to the fbody? The ls3 sure does have a nice torque curve but for what you could build for the cost of an ls3 would be so much more. like an ls2 or lqx with some l92 heads and a cam and youd be well over the capability of any stock ls3 with bolt ons. just my .02
