Navy Blue Metallic- 2000 T/A Firehawk M6
ENOUGH with the aftermarket 5th gen firebirds......
Let's go get the real thing
http://www.bringpontiacback.org/
Not a petition.... yet. but apparently GM retained ownership of the Pontiac brand through bankruptcy in the event they should be fit enough to restart their performance devision.
Today Pontiac is still twice as popular a search term as Buick. I know if they made a 5th gen bird that I would be first in line to buy one...
Let's lend a hand. Show our demand and help bring new life to an old friend

you know why they have this case of retro fever.... the reason is actually nothing to do with aging buyers.... it has everything to do with keeping a recognizable shape while meeting GOVERNMENT safety requirements. Just look at the nose of a 97 vette and an 07 vette.... notice how much taller and blunter the new vette is??? Pedestrian impact rules.... does it suck? yeah.... are cars going to get suckier.... maybe not. just like the fugly bumper requirements in the late 70's they will learn how to adapt and make interesting new fresh shapes again. just takes time. The immediate knee jerk reaction to these rules was to bring back the older taller boxier shapes so they can quickly meet the regs, and yes maybe strike up some nostalgia at the same time. eventually they will need to update these cars and the retro will eventually go away.
I'm all for this. I love the pontiac badge and would love to see it return. Companies know they can't get away with simple badge engineering anymore. cars need differentiation. The current trend is global production.... one car, all markets. If Pontiac were to return they would need unique models that aren't available in other dealers in this country. Opels, Vauxhaulls, Holdens..... other world cars that aren't being sold here but could be. Pontiac could have the performance versions of some of the best cars outside of our shores. and a firebird naturally.
I can see the business case. I'd also be first in line to make my collection grow a little larger.

I think the 2nd gen would have been a better design to copy for the 5th gen. Much larger, and most had safety bumpers anyway.

Within the right hands the idea of Pontiac returning makes me happy. If chevy was killed off I'm sure a lot of people would've been devastated even on a larger scale so it's fair for people to want Pontiac to return... Even if the real Pontiac died in 77...

There is something special enough about the 98-2002 WS6 body that deserves a good remake. This has always been a special, unique car. My only request is that they do it justice. I would like to see it more corvette-like.

2000 Grand Prix GTP- 2000 Trans Am WS6 M6
Why bring it back? It's going to be big, heavy, ugly and underpowered. I think the Firebird/Trans Am went out well, don't let it be brought down with a Camaro look-alike.
Just let it die.

agreed that the firebird went out in the best form possible, but that dont mean the g8 and gto had a fair chance...id like to see more of these kind of cars...and not in impala or possible lumina form.....the impala name was ruined when they made it fwd....we need more rwd v8 cars....

the firebird was never even a tall car to begin with...
side by side a first gen and last gen:
dylan's is lowered, too. and still, not too much of a difference in height. but with safety regulations... yeeeah.
