Drained oil and found this...
Looks like parts of a needle bearing. There's 9 of 'em. Came out of my buddy's '99 SS. What could this possibly come from???

Looks like one of the rocker arms shit the bead. They have needle bearings in them.

Gonna say the rocker's are the only thing really in the engine to have needle bearings. They can and do break/ wear out.

Rocker arms. Not the first time I've seen someone post this.
The rocker arm bearings wear out, and they eventually fall apart and go down the oil drainback holes and work their way to the bottom of the oil pan.
Order a new set of aftermarket roller rockers and replace them all at once. Might want to drop the oil pan if you can as well in order to clean out any remaining needle bearings.

same thing happened with my dad's formula. Rocker disengaged (after exploding) and it felt like it was missing

46k on the car, 20k on the setup. Pulled the valve covers off, #2 cylinder, one rocker arm bearing was totally fked.... what I don't understand, is that it's a Torquer V2 cam with the PRC Stage 2.5 heads with LS7 lifters, hardened pushrods, etc. yet the guy put factory rockers back on
Have any of you guys ever had any real experience with this situation? What are the odds of there being more that won't drain out of the pan (should there be anymore), and getting caught up in the motor? I would think they would just continue to sit at the bottom of the pan, but hell I dunno. It has a LS6 drilled/ported oil pump, and I would think that the screen would protect it, but may clog it, if anything. Guess my question is, after calling texas-speed, ordering new ones and installing them, what are the possible dangers of not yanking the motor and going through it? Any experience with this anyone?

I believe the later oem rockers were changed so they wouldn't do this though, a full set of new ones was installed in ours. Ours being an '00 model aswell

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
i dont think so..the early ls7s have been known to drop the needles too
while i more than likely would have swapped them..it isnt that crazy to keep the stockers on...they are really good rockers..until you get into the high lift aftermarket cams
