    Angry 4l60e transmission problem

Well i have a 1999 Camaro ss, my old auto transmission went out which was a 4l60e. So, i bought another one 4l60e transmission which had a auto shit kit?, But they put the old stock converter from the old transmission. Next, when they had finished installing it and putting the oil, i took it out for a drive. Then, after 10 mph it would jump. Didn't, think to stop and look what was wrong, so i keep on using it. After a while, we drove a little longer and the i wouldn't go any more,(after i stopped and parked, but car was still on)so it wouldn't move on d,r,1,2 etc. But i did notice that when i was parked all the oil went out? (which all happened at one time) Anybody know what it could be? I Was thinking it can be the converter since it was stock and used, what cause it?

Really need all the help its my Dd and i need it for work.

    Thanks for the help

    Thank you.

Knowing where it leaked out from is important. What ruined the last transmission? Was the converter checked to see if it wasn't contaminated with frag from the last transmission?

    Sadly now demodded :(

I have a "built" A4 ("Beast" sun shell, deleted TM + upgraded friction disk's and reworked valve body + other "tricks") and I haven't had a problem since.

I also have a 3400 stall TC and a tranny cooler.

Almost sounds like the converter was'nt locked in the whole way and wiped the main pump.. "jumping from oddly right after install, and then stopped moving all together, fluid everywhere".. imho

    Yeah, the converter wasn't checked.
Im going to ask my brother, he looked under the car.
When i had bought the car, the trany was already going out.
    So i never knew why.

Yeah, he just told me that the oil came out of the rear main seal, So im guessing it was the torque converter.

Well the rear main seal is something all together different. Did he mean the main pump seal? Easy to damage sometimes durring installation and removel of the transmission..
Main pump seal should have been changed before the install of the torque converter tho..

Yeah, i think that might be it, im not sure about transmissions.
Do you know how much that would cost, to get the main pump seal?

I'm not a tranny expert either but if the torque converter was not properly installed there will be pump issues too. Most likely if that is the case the pump is ruined.. One way or another the tranny will need pulled..

Im not sure, Cause the only that would happen, would be like a little jump once you hit 10 mph. Thats it other then that it ran fine.

But, im going to go get it check, im considering that its the converter.(but who knows)

    But thanks for the help
