OBD I conversion
Ok found out that all along I had an OBD I pcm laying in my garage. My car is a 97 and OBD II. What do I need to do to convert my car?

Why would you want to go with the OBD1 PCM? You have plenty of tuning options, and I believe some have gone to the LS1 pcm for even further tunability.

OK long story short. My tuner decided to stop suporting LT1 cars. Vince at Trifecta. I was shocked. Tuner Cats on OBD I has Datamaster and is a lot cheaper than my options for OBD II or an LS PCM upgrade since I have an OBD I laying in my garage and not being used any time soon. I'm just figuring out all my options here so I can figure out which way to go since I have a tune related issue and now my tuner is not supporting my tune I paid for (no corrections for a small fee). So I would have to go pay full price somewhere else and at that point why not just by the damn software and learn how to do it.

You have to either change the knock sensor or put a resistor in the PCM. Mine has the resistor, so I can just swap the PCM if I had to.

an LS tuner usually wont touch an obd II LT1 if he dosn't do Obd I lt1's
But that said you just need to swap the PCM and knock sensor. But with all the programs and free software out there for OBD I why would you? They even have real time tuning software out there for them now.

if you state has inspections you will FAIL. if you have a car that came with ODBII you can't go back, you can only go forward. if you are going to do anything then put in a LS pcm. it has been done.

No inspections hear in FL. I wouldn't pass if they did as it sits right now lol.

I don't know about what would have to be changed but it will need setup for speed density tuning.. OBD1 are making a come back as a reliable simpler tunning alternative.. Mostly in the 60* v6 crowds.. There are companies that burn chips and so forth.. I went to speed density stand alone on my TT build project.. Lets me tune from a laptop or hand held in SD.. No MAF either.. Just MAP, knock, IAC, TPS, and MASS, and wide bands is my setup in short..
