Any One Notice This

I live in San Diego and do not speak Spanish, that said I recently have begun to notice that Spanish speaking employees seem to give Spanish speaking customers discounts.
This occurs at fast food restaurants, I have yet to confirm this however it is something I suspect is happening.
Any one else notice this, is it a latino culture thing?

I surely hope you're imagining it. I don't need another reason to raise my old man ire regarding immigration. I already stopped shopping at wal-mart because the wal-marts near me have reduced the english dvd section from 4 rows to 1, and turned the other 3 into the spanish dvd section. THREE rows for spanish, ONE row for the only nationally recognized official language of this country. And every sign or notice in the store was printed in both languages. Made me feel like the immigrant when I shopped there. Argh.

Sorry, diverted the topic there. Again, I hope you're imagining it. I haven't noticed anything like that here...

did someboday order a dbl cheeseburger for a dollar and get charged .99 lol? the only times ive seen something similar to the scenario you speak of, was when the customer clearly new the worker. language spoken during transaction had no bearing on them being from imo. seeing as how ive been hooked up by non-latino guys speaking english on many occasions despite me being mexican. my culture had no bearing on my non-latino friend giving me free/cheap stuff at dennys/bk. i have been *hooked up* by black/white/asian/latin friends at one time or another at restaurants while speaking only english. sounds like your making the wrong friends. fyi the belittlement of a culture won't help you get discounts, whether it is public or private belittlement.

The guy in front of me the other day at KFC got a free oange Kool-aid with his chicken.... I was pissed

Maybe they're freinds or know each other somehow. Could just be a coincidence or just all in your head. I get a military discount almost everywhere, I ask and they "hook me up". But if you don't ask they won't offer it, even if I'm standing there in my uniform. What's up with that?

Happened here in NY a few years back. Chinese restaurants had two menus. One was regular price and the other one was discounted for other Chinese costumers.

I'll tell ya what will piss you off more than that....when I went to vote the damned ballots were printed in english and spanish. Aint that some bullshit.

Went to traffic court friday to get a charge dismissed while waiting for them to sort everyone out they called all the spanish speaking people up front so that they could see the judge first.

Never noticed it here. I don't think I would be too accepting either. And I am hispanic, among four other ethnicities. If this did happen in front of me, I know I would be pissed. My Spanish speaking might suck, but to pull something like what I've read, that would be sad as all hell. Cut someone a break because they can't speak English...F that.

I gotta agree. I do speak Spanish fluently but that would still piss me off too. That doesn't happen here but I guess cause this is a border city.
