I know you were not attacking I was just messin witcha..
However if you think all v6 f-body's are "designed for economy" you're mistaken..
Most f-body owners know that aside from the obvious there's not much difference under the cars between the v6 and v8 cars.. Y87 cars and other v6 f-bods that are loaded are NOT considered a "base" Camaro.. A "base" Camaro has almost no options that are not standard and could be a base Z or base SS or a 3800 powered f-bod
.. No power windows, locks, mirrors, base 3800 2 pc drive shaft, non-aburn, ect, ect..
The 40 ft lbs extra from a 4.3 won't save it from being walked by a 3800II-III without gears.. I've never had trouble with 4.3's..Maybe if they were in f-body it would be different..

I think the 4.3 could be made pretty snotty. To me (maybe I am wrong) but its a little brother to teh 350. I think it has the same bore/stroke right? Maybe not....lol
Thing is if you could get a cam with decent specs and heads that were comperable to the flow of LS1 heads (or even LT1 heads) with 194/150 valves and nice chambers you could have a snotty little car. Sounds like a good project to me. Get on it!
Wow that last part reminds me of my first stint in college and trying to be cool with a girl. That ended worse than a 3800 automatic running against a WS6! I was the 3800.........tires were hot and the engine was running but I got walked on.
Its not that bad.

Hrm........I wonder if you can lop off a chamber of some LT1 heads, maybe have a .45X custom cam ground, and fab up an LT1 intake (shortened) and make her a runner.....
If I had cash, the know how, ability, time, and will, I would do this.....hahahah
Is the 3.8 much different in lbs compared to the LS1? The addition of FI would make it heavier yet.
I remember seeing a C4 Corvette with a Buick GNX engine dumped in it.

Water jackets would be the hangup on the 350 to 4300 heads.. Yup the 3800 is very heavy indeed, that's why I've been tossing around the high feature idea.. I could do a 3.4/3500 hybrid too but I want multi cam and the timmimg/tuning options it gives.. Can only go so far with a single cam v6 without boost.. I have a set of new 3800 heads and have gone over them and just do not like the setup there are not much options (stock) other than race heads if you want flow..
Stock heads have few options and the exhaust side is nothing short of a joke..

These are the exhaust ports on my custom TDC (a high feature engine) 2 exhaust valves is hard to beat v6 wise..

Does the 3800 have the water jackets that the 350ci doesnt? I was under the impression that 400 heads have an extra weep hole if you will vs the 350 heads? Not that they wont bolt up but I have heard from some dirt track racers that the car runs hotter with the 400 heads. If so couldnt you use a 400 head? Oh crap............stupid question, I see how it wouldnt work....lol
The multi cam is the way to go, like the old LT5 would turn in to a monster when those 2nd valves kick in at about 3200 rpms.....and the import guys thought they invented the first V-tec style engines.
I had a GTO. The rear is ok for handling but very weak. It is pretty much as weak as the f-body rear. My GTO had a sloppy rear at 37k miles. Also, they use very tiny axle shafts. Compare them to that found on the C4 Corvettes and see the comparison. lol

The best thing to do would be to find the Dana 44 out of a manual C4 vette... the 44 is stout... its the 36 out of the auto cars that is only good to certain levels. Their is an LT car locally that has had the conversion done and even with the power he is putting down.. the Dana 36 is holding well. His car bites in and launches nicely.

What day? I have midterms.
Yes they are stout.........the 36 is not as bad as people make it out to be. I am thinking that if he is boosting a V6 he would be fine with the 36..........however the 44 would still be my first choice. I wonder, would 6-speed would he use?.....hrm

put some pressurized air to that buick broseph!! I need a naturally breathing (mellow sounding) 455 tri-shield in my chebbelet. I bet that D.I. motor would be a whore to tune correctly. Plus getting it to run.. Or just be simple and forge the 3.8 with a big hit of laughing gas. Thread jack is no big deal, op has discovered that he will be bent over by the v8 already
