Texas Peeps.... In here.
Cliffs: Front License Plate MUST BE ON THE BUMPER.... No longer in the Windshield.
Intel from L.E.O. friend... DPS especially targeting Sports cars (vette's, T/A's, 'Maro's, Stang's) for violations now.
Just a friendly heads up.

Original Law....
ยง 502.404. OPERATION OF VEHICLE WITHOUT LICENSE PLATE OR
REGISTRATION INSIGNIA. (a) A person commits an offense if the
person operates on a public highway during a registration period a
passenger car or commercial motor vehicle that does not display two
license plates, at the front and rear of the vehicle, that have
been:
(1) assigned by the department for the period; or
(2) validated by a registration insignia issued by the
department that establishes that the vehicle is registered for the
period.
The court ruled: Texas drivers must display license plates on the front bumpers of their vehicles, the state's top criminal court ruled Wednesday while upholding the conviction of a man sent to prison for 60 years on a drug charge.
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals in a split decision said it's not good enough to display a plate somewhere toward the front of the car or truck, such as inside the front windshield.Last edited by FORD RECOVERY EXPERT; 09-24-2010 at 09:24 AM.

I've never understood the purpose of a front plate. Do you know the reasoning behind Texas requiring that?

Iowa requires two plates as well. And we're the state that doesn't require motorcyclist to wear helmets!

Got pulled over a couple weeks back leaving a bar in Richardson (DFW) and the officer told me he pulled me over for no plate. He got me out and made me do the Texas TwoStep to check if I was DUI. He let me go and never even gave me a warning about the plate. You know he wasn't worried about the damn plate, he was looking for drunks.

In Illinois it's now illegal to have a license plate cover, even if it's clear. I'm guessing this is a result from everyone getting those mirrored plates to blow through the I-Pass.
We've always had the front plate rule, but I never put it on my WS6, been pulled over once for it, still didn't put it on and never will.

I don't have a front plate now, and won't ever put it on. I've been pulled over twice and swore that I hadn't been pulled over for it. I've gotten off with a warning so far. Even if they give a ticket it's considered a non-moving violation right?

Sorry guys but I really gotta say it sounds like some states really suck... In FL we dont have emissions and the cops dont check so you can do whatever the fuck u want to your car short of open headers. Motorcyclists arent required to wear helmets (stupid law), no front license plate law, and tint laws are incredibly lenient, only thing is its hot as balls all year around lol

I'm never putting it on, I f-ing hate the way it looks, I've already gotten pulled over for it twice and got it dismissed twice. They charge like $20 to dismiss it(upon providing a picture of it placed on the vehicle )

Used to have mine mounted on a piano-style hinge under the bumper.... at abouut 20 it blows up and you can't see it. Then when you stop, it comes down. The Trooper was like: I stopped you for no front plate... I said: Really? It was there earlier, maybe its just too low? He went and looked, came back and said: That wasn't there a minute ago....
