There's no way around it, it is going to happen. As long as humans continue to repoduce at ridiculous rates, it pretty much has to happen. There are already too many people on this planet to feed with organic farming methods.

i don't really see a problem with it. it was bound to happen sooner or later and we will be consuming genetically modified animals at some point in the future anyway. and i like how it is admitted that we are already eating genetically modified plants...but nobody is really in any uproar over that.

The only other realistic option is to start letting people starve off. Which, while extremely unPC, may be a good thing. Especially in certain countries that refuse to use condoms due to 'cultural biases' and have ridiculous populations with zero ability to support them locally. It's either bioengineer the food, or let people starve...
