I'm not flaming you here, but here is why I have such a hard time debating you. For whatever reason, you take things out of context and twist them up. I'm not sure if this is on purpose to make it easier for you to generate a response, or if you have some sort of attention or reading comprehension problem as I suggested earlier...

Obviously I was not talking about "that era" in my post. We're talking about the 21st century. Of course there was not a lot of white guilt in the 19th century. 99.99% of whites, "Honest Abe" included, viewed blacks as subhumans.

Some high profile blacks like to press the issue hoping to get something out of it, like repreations, or they may use it as a rallying point in the black community, but there is really no good reason to dig up that horrible chapter of our history.

Have you ever seen Buster exhibit excellent speech and vocabulary, or is he always drunk at a BBQ?

He's on tape because he's famous. If someone had a tape of a random idiot acting like that, the reaction would pretty much be the same.

The problem is that impressionable kids see him acting like that and they think that in order to be successful, they don't need to know how to speak or dress, they can just act like that. Then they wonder why they wind up flipping burgers or doing laundry in prison.

Nobody can be forced to be a role model, and it's not my place to suggest that Buster carry himself in a manner that would be a positive influence on his young fans.

But I would suggest that one of the biggest problems in the black community is lack of role models.

I put a lot of the blame on the media in general. MTV and the like pretty much determine "cool" in this country, and these are the type of folks they put on a pedestal to be worshiped by impressionable kids.

I disagree with this, based on where you live at exactly. I work in Philly, in a hardcore neighborhood which is 99% black. During the spring and summer hours when I am working in the tougher parts of the neighborhood I hear black guys refer to other black guys as "My nigger, or what's up nigger?"....not nigga...but nigger several times a day, everyday. To me it is commonplace and I don't react after 7 years of being out there, but trust me when I tell you it happens more than you might think. Again this is in a big city and in a hardcore neighborhood, so different places are subject to different types of people.
