not sure what you're talking about as far as a co2 pad.....I can tell you what I've had the most luck with though. How clean you need them depends on what you're using to paint. Spray or brush on? I've done it both ways. Brush on doesn't need to be nearly as clean as if you're spraying them. I used a wire wheel on my drill to get most of it off then used fine grit sand paper on them to get tougher spots clean. A wire wheel on a dremmel is your friend too if you have one....it'll get to those little nooks and crevices much easier. If you're brushing just knock the top stuff off then brake clean the crap out of them. If you're spraying them you'll want them extremely clean and zero oils or finger prints on them. The spray will want to "fish eye" if there's anything at all on the calipers. Spraying looks a little better IMO but the brush on is much easier and quicker and so far has held up better than when I sprayed them.

depending on how much rust on the rotors--you can a drill with any kind of scuff pad or wire wheel--they wont damage the surface--NO grinder disc !!!

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
Good thread as I plan to paint my calipers soon. When I replace my rotors, I will buy a set that already have the hats painted.

Looking good! But just a warning for your future use of an 8" cement block.. Turn it and lay it the other way with a good board across the cells.. Chunk of 2x6 works best. Cement block are'nt designed to be strong placed in that fasion. I've seen many suddenly crush when used in that manner.. Just tossing that out there. Hate to see anyone get hurt..

Well bro I would'nt use a "cinder block" in any way shape form.. They quit making them because they were just out right dangerous.. I know what you ment tho.. A cement block is far and away a stronger block but not on its side.. Newer updated cement block contain rebar for rienforcement..

There was a guy here a few years ago working on an s10 v8 conversion and the truck fell on him.. Unfortunatly it did not kill him right away.. He layed there they estimated for a few hours before suffocating to death.. That is'nt a way for anyone to go man.. Sometimes we forget the weights we're dealing with when working on our toys.. If it falls it will come down now in the blink of an eye.. Take care folks... Sorry for the thread jack..

I used MEK to clean the calipers (off the vehicle, with brush) to remove any grime and grit, and a wire brush for any surface rust.
I used high heat engine block paint (from local car parts store) to paint the calipers and brackets.
