Picked up my new CME

I just jumped all over one hell of a deal. I found myself a totaled SS at a local junk yard, the entire car was stripped and it looked like it was in a roll over accident. So i figured i would go over and check out the exhaust and see if by any chance it had an aftermarket muffler....when i turned to the back of the car my jaw dropped a STOCK SLP CME. I immediately went inside and asked how much he wanted for the tips and valance. The guy said he would have to look it up and he would let me know, hoping to get lucky i told him id give him 350 cash for the tips and valance (making it clear that he would still have the muffler to sell, he thought the stock muffler was worth some good cash apparently) He looked at me and said sure why not, i went over to it and pulled the valance off crawled under it and took off the tips and the elbows threw them in the back of the truck and off i went.
Thats a deal to me any day, a Stock SLP SS CME, tips and elbows for $350

the weld between the tips looks like it is starting to crack so i might have it re-welded possible with a support added to protect it from ever cracking

Question.. Why is that stuff always so pricey? I don't see anything there that I could'nt make in my fab shop for like 50 bucks.. I would'nt have payed more than the same for it from a boneyard..
When the person @ the bone yard said he'd have to look up the price I would have said, "excuse me but I don't pay retail for used parts on wrecked cars!" But that's just me.. Hope everything comes out great for the OP tho.. I'm just currious why the pieces are always so expensive when there's really nothing to it form a Fabrication stand point..

Unfortunately, it is the law of supply and demand. Economics is a bitch!
