Brett may hold all the major QB records, and I am a fan of his, but, he would not be my top regarded QB of all time. There are still a couple I hold in higher regard than him. For all the great things he has done, and he has a shitload of bad things too, he still has only won 1 championship in 19 years. For my money, Joe Montana is still the QB I would build my NFL team around, without hesitation.

Kind of off topic, but lebron doesnt even have one ring in the past 7 years. Despite him signing the highest endorsement deal's, back to back MVP, 2nd or 3rd in scoring, and the Cavs having the best record in the NBA for a few seasons now. Although rings/awards say lot about a player, I dont think thats the key fact that ppl should judge them by.

they're paid to win....not set personal records. Just ask Favre if he'd rather have records or rings and I bet he would say rings without any hesitation. Indy last year rested players instead of shooting for the undefeated season. The reason was that ring....that's the reason they play.

Most people remember how many championships players win. I can tell you how many titles Jordan, Montana and other great athletes won. I don't keep track of individual accomplishments and most people don't ultimately remember those things either. I don't remember how many personal accolades Bill Russell achieved, but I can tell you he won 11 championships. Jordan 6. Montana 4. Favre 1. Lebron 0. Kobe 5. Bird 3. Emmit Smith 3 Peyton Manning 1 etc.

the classic case of this is Marino.....how huge would he be if he had 5 rings compared to how he's viewed now? He's viewed as possibly the greatest QB of all time except.....
Montana on the other hand doesn't have as many personal accomplishments as steve young but is widely considered better than young or marino (which I agree with).

And 20 years from now, people won't remember anything about him, except 2 things:
1. He left Cleveland to join up with buddies and win a title instead of trying to be the competition himself. He is being widely criticized among current NBA HOFers for this.
2. How many, if any, titles he wins. No one is going to remember his personal accolades 20 years from now.Last edited by Y2KPewterSS; 08-19-2010 at 07:02 PM.

Agreed, Marino is a prime example of this. If he had even 1 championship, he would be held in much higher regard than he already is. Really sad Dan didn't get at least 1 title in his career.
Elway would probably not even be talked about as a top 10 QB of all time had he not won those 2 championships late in his career. Otherwise, he would have been in that class of couldn't win the big one.

Some people seem to forget that it takes a TEAM to win a super bowl.....Not just one person can do it.....So this argument of whether Favre compares to marino, montana is irrelevent because he didn't have the team around him that marion and montana did.....

that's just it....he doesn't compare to Marino or Montana. He just won the war of attrition. Remove the last 4-5 years from his stats and see where he falls. I have nothing against Favre and he's a good QB but he's a long ways away from being the greatest ever. There are several people in line in front of him. He also shows poor character by how he's handled things the last 2-3 years with the retirement thing.

Agree that he has handled things extremely poorly the last few years. But when you say take away his last 4-5 years and see where that leaves him, well it still leaves him a two time superbowl quarterback with 1 win in the big game. He has taken his team to the playoff almost every year after that. More than 4-5 years ago he still had tons of records and multiple mvp titles. The past 4-5 years of his playing are not at all his best years as a quarterback. As far as records go there isnt anyone ahead of him.

How do you figure he doesn't compare to Marino? Favre's been to two SuperBowls, and won one of them. Marino is 0-1 in the Bowl.
That's an irrelevant comment. It holds no water. The fact is, Favre has played the last 4-5 years, when Marino did/could not. That says something all by it's self.
It's easy to cast stones when you aren't in the person's shoes isn't it?Again, it's an irrelevant comment anyway.

Agreed that how he has acted the past years is irrelevant to his skill as a player but he has handled the situation like crap. He treated the situation like im Brett Farve and everyone can just hold there breathes and wait for me to decide. And now its just a joke, will brett farve come back to the NFL or not is just as big of a joke as will Lindsey Lohan go back to rehab, noone cares cause its old and boring and we most likely know the answer is yes. Noone expected him to do what he did when he left and he let his loyal fans of 15 years down so he could have one more chance, infact almost slapped us in the face especially signing with those purple fags in MN.

You know - I talked with a guy that moved here from Wisconsin for work about this very thing. He was mentioning the on/again off/again stuff and everything inbetween.
To me, it says two things:
1. The fans really do still care and don't like how the situation in GB all went down. It wasn't too big of a deal for him to go to the Jets, but then when he became a Viking, it was different. (obvious)
2. Not only do the fans still care, they're still bitter, just like you. Too bad.
I'll be the first to say that 'most' fudge-Packer fans that I've talked to are pretty good, and it's why they have arguably the best fans in the NFL. One of my best friends is a fan. I'm envious of GB's ownership, and how the fans own the team - which, to me, is part of why the feelings run deeper compared to other teams.

I can understand how you Minn. fans take this so serious......him coming back was your only hope of breaking .500 this year.
Favre won't last the season and Minn. might make it to 9-7 this year.

The line you put in bold was a joke but anywho my dad bought some ownership and my grandpa left me his ownership cert but idk if that is even valid because its in his name. Well we have the same name except middle initial so i guess it works.
The only time i think about brett is when hes in a game im watching or when i look at my football signed by most of the 96 season superbowl team and wonder if all this crap hes doing is making it worth more or less.Last edited by Zinergy; 08-20-2010 at 11:55 AM.

The Vikings front office and coaching staff are a joke. There is no wondering why the players do not have any respect for Chilly or the organization.
It looks like Brett won’t be satisfied until he is crippled, come September 9th the Saints D just might grant him that wish.
