but, if you have an ls1 and you are just looking for 450~500 hp true duals are not necessary?

and are LT headers really not legal?

Exaust is a bi-product of combustion, the more power you make the bigger the combustion. So if you have a 305 or LS1 making 500HP or more.... Duals are the only way to go unless your running a single turbo set-up. Anything less will be seriously restricting your set-up. Also if your running duals you should run at least 2.5 or 3".
so then please tell us why most high horsepower cars are running ypipe setups?? Its been shown time and time again that ypipes with a cutout usually out dyno those with duals. then again, those are dyno numbers. This i have seen personally, this isnt just bs'ing please feel free to correct me.

lts arent legal and you can run duals whatever your setup as long as they clear your components. That was my frist setup (duals) but with my spohn TA they wouldnt clear so i had to go back to a ypipe setup.

what about function? They do a sniff test too, will i pass that? How are long tubes illegal exactly? If i have LTs with egr fittings etc... then they are legal? im not following this, maybe becasue im tired... sorry if this has been answered a million times. but perhaps this will clear it up for other people wondering this too.

I'm moving to CA soon and I want Long Tube's. After seeing my brother with how much trouble he's had on his Firebird with a B&B exhaust and hi-flow cats (too loud and leaking...had it re-weilded and stuck a can into one of the exhausts) I'd rather keep it legal. I thought the whole point of keeping the O2's in place is to pass inspection...what's the whole point of emmissions set-up on something that wont pass????
