any stage 2 heads and a mid 230s duration camshaft with .600 lift will get ya there with a ls6 manifold.. throw a magic stick 4 in there just to be sure..

thinking fast 92mm intake/throttle body, but don't know about heads and cam.don't want to go too wild on the cam as this is still a driver and not a drag race only car.

a magic stick 3 or 4 is pretty wild on LS1 but can be tuned for good daily. if you want 400 rwhp tho you dont need that much, especially with the fast 92. the TSP 233/239 camshaft would also make you make or exceed your goal and be even more streetable. i wouldnt go smaller than that. i had a 230/236 custom grind, drove like absolute stock and wicked sounding idle but i know i could have gone bigger with just as nice streetability. i made just at 400rwhp with the ls6 manifold, stock ported throttle body and a set of stage two port and polished stock 98 ls1 heads...

Or I could just get a ls6 long block,fast 92,and a magnacharger.or a ati procharger.

I think with a smart selection of cylinder heads and cam and your goals are easily reached. A blower would be much more money but you would have perfect streetability with easily over 400 rwhp.

yeah a supercharger is definately very expensive,i like the magnacharger roots type setup better than the procharger setup but damn $7k+ is more than a crate engine ls6 or ls3 or even the ls376w/hot cam!

a ls6 intake, pnp throttle body,a TSP 228r cam kit with PRC 5.3 or ls6 cnc heads should make 400rwhp.a fast intake 78-92 mm with matching TB,stock 243s with a EPS custom cam will make 420 rwhp.

I'd suggest speaking to reputable shoppes instead of guessing. many have been through so many combos and they know what works.

You definitely don't need a stroker motor or blower to reach 400rwhp. You can do that easily with a mild head/cam combo. You'll really want to get a bigger stall as well.

any particular reason for the ls6 longblock?? unless yours is blown up i dont know what makes you think thats the best way to spend your money... use your stock block and throw a decent heads cam package on it and you will make your goal and be perfectly streetable. your complicating this whole thing when your goal is super easy to obtain for relatively cheap and still maintain great reliability and streetability....

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
i think we have talked about this ..why you want a ls6.. i personally would get a ls3..put it in and stock you are at 380............STOCK! add some exhaust and boom past 400rwhp and you will have stock drive-ability. it makes little to no sense to use gen IIIs anymore ..minus the lq9..and even that is loosing its relevance

Pewter- 2002 Trans am WS6 T-top
I had a buddy of mine did a 382 stroker short block in his garage, with a set of PP 5.3 stage 3 heads (forgot the cc though) Fast intake on a ported tb. The first cam was a G2X5, stock lifters,QTP headers no cats with a bad ass tune. 460 rwhp. He finshed up at 498 rwhp, on a custom cam which he did not give out specs. Only that it was 2 times bigger than the g2x5 cam. He drove this car every day. Its totally possible, just the homework/research is needed.
