Reccomend a Rotary buffer Please

Been using Zaino for years. Been polishing with off the shelf stuff for many more and know what I'm doing for the most part. All of my friends consider me the expert and always ask me but I have never moved beyond hand polishing/wasxing.

Direct me towards becoming faster with a rotary buffer I see people using. I want to learn more about pads and compounds etc. My paint is pristine on my vette and always has been; maybe I just need to try on the wifes car so I can start from a worse-off starting point.

I would not recommend jumping straight to a rotary. Those can burn your clear and even your paint.

Portercable or Flex may work for you though.

Porter cable would probably be the best route. Very easy to use, wide variety of pads for different applications and very user friendly. Id get more trained with this before jumping to a rotary

I appreciate the input. So are rotarys more for 'fixing' paint than just regular waxing/polishing? I used to use an orbital buffer years ago it was just so big and clumsy I always thought a rotary was just more of a pro tool.

Rotary CAN be used if you exercise caution. FWIW Zaino is overpriced. Duragloss or Chemical Guys are cheaper and nicer products

Get a porter or griiots garage and a few other sell random orbit buffers. I have a dewalt rotary and the slowest speed it 1000rpm with can burn a edge in seconds if you don't know what your doing and you can also swirl the car badly. Dewalt makes a great durable buffer and by far the best built, makita is nice and light but break easy.
If you have a freind who is a prof. detailer to teach you then you'll be ok just find a cheap car pratice on. So buy accordingly.

WRONG!! Been using Zaino for at least 15 years, Tried many many other products and keep coming back to the Zaino, It's not expensive at all, considering how little of it you use. Also, Porter Cable is the only way to go, at least until you think you are ready for something more!!

You need to determine what would you need a rotary for.
If it's going to be to use on your car, then the rotary would see limited use. A rotary is a tool not to be used everytime you want to detail your car, nor is a tool designed to apply waxes, sealants, etc...

What I would recommend is the Flex 3401 if you want a tool that can remove as much defects as the rotary but in a more safe manner.
Or the new PC7424XP which can take its good share of defects plus it's more versatile, meaning you can handle it easier and apply sealants with it as well.
You could apply sealant with the Flex, but is quite heavy and somewhat cumbersome for that kind of task

Looking back through the thread, I don't see where anyone claimed it would. From the OP description, his paint is no where near that condition either.

Zaino isn't for major correction. So yes it doesn't do that.
But it does this:

Zaino lives up to everything I expected. All you haters are certainly in denial so you might as well
come to expect it it's all that it claims to be. The most durable & inexpensive product I have ever
used. I like others as well and use them quite a bit. But Zaino will always be #1 IMO.
To the OP, I would stick with the Flex or a PC. Flex is better in more ways but it's
also more $$. The Flex will also keep going even at more pressure you apply.
The PC won't.

If you guys don't like to use Zaino, that is your choice and perfectly fine. Zaino is a sponsor of the forum though, and if you are going to get nasty about your comments towards Zaino, I am going to hand out infractions for it.

Infraction LMAO. This forum isn't real life! I have been on this site since 99 I couldn't give a damn less, I cruise it when I'm bored. Zaino is STILL hype. Get Duragloss cheaper.....Homer, I will tell you this if you like poor boys, you'll like adam's and if you want very comparable stuff go to chemical guys, call and talk with them. I use tons of their products and will tell you $ for $ its cheap and good.
