The automatic was MUCH nicer - had lower miles - just a better deal all around - so I went with the automatic (even though I liked the black one with the manual more...like I said - the pewter won me over!)
With the chip - fuel delivery works better and the car shifts very much like a manual (never be as good). Also changed out the baffle and air box cover lid to unrestrict airflow as well as put a billet grill up front in place of the stock plastic one. Baby steps - but I will get my baby where I want it ..eventually.
As far ar the manual/auto thing goes. There will be mixed feelings around here on that subject. But I can tell you, noone on earth can shift as fast as a computer controlled auto which is in milliseconds.. You could have just had the trany reprogrammed for better shifts as well as a good tune for fuel delivery.. "Chips" will get ya heckled here lol.. Chips are generally more suited to the obd1 cars..

I knew there would be unhappy people about the chip thing. It was one of the first things I did with this car - I have sense taken it out to try and get a feel for it without - I like it much better with the chip in; yes I can tell a difference. So, for now the chip is in. I'm good at what I'm good at...the rest I am willing to learn through advice and then do my own research. I can say though that I a damn happy with my car - Made it from ORL to St Augustine in 1 hr and 20 mins racing a vette most of the way. YES the vette could definitely take me off the line....but my camaro held her own - as I said previously, what I may lack in the HP i make up with driving ability. I had him in my rearview more times than not!! As for tuning the tranny etc - that's in the future - just a budget stands in my way. Baby steps...I will get there.

We all like to joke with each other around here. No offense by any of it.

If you feel a difference with the "chip", imagine how you're going to feel when you get it dyno tuned!

I know is'nt it cool? lol This is why I've moved to a custom stand alone unit with onboard touch screen LCD display.. This will aid in proper tuning and monitoring for FI..

Some of the parameters I can monitor with my stand alone:

    •RPM
    •Manifold Pressure (boost)
    •Air/Fuel Ratio
    •Coolant Temperature
    •Intake Air Temperature
    •Injector PulseWidth
    •EGO Correction
    •EAE Fuel Correction
    •Ignition Advance
    Etc..

I'm not offended. I have just heard it all aready. I honestly dont know enough to start really tweaking my car...yet. I world like to learn more. I learned a lot about how to tweak my older car - as in no computer to play with and mess up. I had supervised help in changing the 305 H/O out of my monte to a 350. I enjoyed watching/some helping with the flowmaster exaust being hooked up too. When it comes to my current car - its intimidating because essentially there are most of the same parts - but that computer thing - I dont want to mess it up. and it costs lots to fix....

I am a joker myself. Life is too short not to be able to laugh or joke with people or at oneself. Sorry if I sounded offended - It takes a lot more than that to offend me. I am proud of my car though - maybe bragging came off as offended - I have resisted getting a newer car for a very long time - I have had monte carlo's/olds cutlass/TA - but always wanted a Camaro (specifically 68 RS SS - still on the wish list) - this is my first Camaro and my first newer car - cant help being impressed with her!!!!!

Cool! I have the y87 package 3800-II 01 Camaro and the project Twin Turbo 92 (first gen) z34.. It took me awhile to come around on the 3800.. I'm mostly a 60*v6 person.. 3800 was daunting @ first because of the odd configuration of the engine, and it being all heavy iron.. Then I dug into it's past and followed how it came to be. My findings were very persuasive(sp).. I've always been a v6 person due to the "off the beaten path" type of builds I find.. My current build on the 92 z34 is an all one off build and I love the challenge it represents as there is no real after market for the "X" code Twin Dual Cam 3.4l v6.. Which puts it right up my fabrication alley.. Part of its past is being the father of the early North Star v8 engines used in Caddy's and @ least one truck v8 engine.. It's the only v6 engine Chevrolet produced to be a "muscle" type engine but unfortunately had to be "detuned" to be mated to weak FWD transmissions, (autos).. The manual transaxles they once offered are not the easiest things to come by being they were made by Muncie and the only transaxles capable of holding 7200 rpm red line in the early models and specific to only 2 cars no longer in production, and manuals no longer being offered after '93.. A near bullet proof factory unit which can easlily hold modded v8 power and reutinely do with the Fiero crowd.. The 3800 90*v6 is another of GM's unique v6's with a heritage dating back to Buick Wild Cat days and the Buick 350 v8.. Tho very prolific(sp) The engine still manages to stand alone as one of the greatest 90*v6's GM ever produced and is legondary on the streets and the track..
Whether the v8 guys want to admit it or not..
But I get carried away talking about them sometimes my bad..

Enjoy her, the LS1 is also a legondary engine as well.. Just ask any Ford guy..

Holy hell! You and I have about the same history For me, it was two 69 Chevelles. The second being the car that although I had help with, I also had a heavy hand in rebuilding. It was my baby car. And, this is also the newest car I've ever owned and never really thought I'd own any muscle over a 72. I also came here to brush up and to learn to make the transition from 'old school' to the LS1

And, not being easily offended and seriously wanting to learn more about your car... that will take you far around here

I drove that car as my DD for almost 15 years. When my son was a baby and got fussy... all I had to do was take him out, put him in his car seat and start her up. Within a few seconds... he was out like a light. Never even had to leave the driveway

    Damn! I miss that car

You'll like it here just fine Good to have you aboard
