    Carb on an LQ9??

OK, here is the jist of it...I am swappin out the old faithful LT1 out of my 94 Z, installing a LQ9 out of my brothers Silverado. Now, not sure if i should spend the money on an FAST intake or jus swap over to a carb set up, gonna be mostly drag strip duty and the occasional street light , not concerned about fuel economy. I know all about clearance issue with runnin a carb , again not too concerned, I am pretty crafty with the mods to make it work. Just like to be different, need to stand out a lil. Anyway ,wondering if anyone had any insight on this?

Personally I would do fuel injection but carb would be WAY more simple for the average joe to do. What is your skill level with fuel injection?
And are you sure that Silverado has an LQ9 and not an LQ4??

yup positive its a 6.0(comin out of my brothers 2500), i will be pullin it out this weekend and puttin one with a lil bit lower milage back in his truck, i get the hand-me-down parts which is ok by me, since i am on a really tight budget. i was considerin the fuel in jection route but after pricing out those FAST intake a bit pricey, i heard the LS6 intake are jus as good and half the price.

LQ9 is a high compression 6.0 found in Escalades, Denali's, and Silverado SS's (I think).
LQ4 is the regular truck 6.0. Still a great engine to build off of though.

see, Im learnin something new everyday, lol . I thought the escaledes and denalis had all aluminum blocks aswell. thought that was the diff between them. not that i am complaining, the price was right , i still got it for free. beggers cant be choosers. well , next prob will be the cam goin in it, which will be comin out of his 99 T/A which is really lumpy. He said it was because it was an older grind cam, newer one have much better idle quality. he had it many places for tuning, but no success. have to get the exact numbers on it, or might have to buy something to match everything else.

    2002-2006 Escalades/Denalis had LQ9 (6.0) cast iron blocks. 2007and up Escalades have L92 (6.2) alumnium block.
Keep in mind, a lumpy cam is gonna have a lumpy idle no matter how much tuning you try to smooth it out.
