White- 1969 Nova
doing some research for a classic chevy implant
Hi all,
I'm working on a '69 Nova that needs a new heart. I'm looking to go outside the box and not drop the run of the mill 350, edelbrock intake, K/N filter, and shiny valve covers on top. For a little background. I've been working on cars since I was a kid like a lot of you on here. I've build several small blocks for myself. My dad owns a machine shop down in Illinois where I grew up. He's been building engines for about 30 years now. I want to go with a fuel injected small block. My dad advised me to go with a TPI from an 80's car. But I'm wanting some advise from the new generation. Problem is I don't know much about the LS family. One big thing to start with is I am going to be buying a donor car to do my implant. So I'd like to know which car is best for the job. Which engine, trans, and all would go nicely with the '69 Nova.
Thanks,
Joe

Joe! Welcome aboard.
I put a copy of your post in the Classic Muscle section so you'll get more feedback.
There is another 69 Nova in there too

There are at least two (2) great books out there on the LS engines. You can check them out on Amazon with a quick search. Lots of companies are making swap parts to install LS motors in just about anything these days. The main issues seem to be oil pan and accessory drive clearance, the electronics, and fuel pressure (LS engines require 58 psi, but you can swap over to a standard carbuerated intake).

welcome. tpi is old new now adays since the ls1. there is a bunch of right ups on these kinds of cars.
