Are you serious?!?!
Okay...I've had my car for 4 long painful years. I understand gm engineers failing at realizing that hey bigger windows need a bigger a motor. I've realized that t-tops present a unique challenge to water tight. I've realized that rubber can degrade on turn signal bulb o-rings and cause me to replace them every month. I've even realized that hey, apparently some batches of metal can be botched causing my drive shaft to snap in half. I've also realized that vacuum tubes can come off and my heater/ac not to work any more. Hey I realized that traction control systems can screw up and not allow me any more than 1/8th an inch of gas pedal travel.
BUT...when my, this isn't aag so I will keep it civil, pos windshield wipers break. ARE ARE SERIOUS?!?! Wipers go on every car in a line up. How do you not figure that kind of thing out. Jesus, let me design a car.
So here is the deal, wipers turn on, and I can turn them off. They STOP. But don't go down to "home" position. Also, intermittent speeds work for a while, then like twenty minutes they just stop. Oh, and I can stop car, turn it back on, and the wipers will go back to bottom. This just happened this morning. Only way I could get them to turn on to begin with was use the sprayer, after they ran a cycle then the speeds worked.
But yeah, tell me how to fix this stupid problem so I can get rid of the car. I am sick and tired of being nickel and dimed by a useless piece of gm garbage. I've just had it. I gotta get to college and work, and I need something more reliable than a car where even the original radio broke. Oh, and the two speakers broke. My god, between insurance and fixing it, I've spent almost as much as the value of the car.

Sounds like the beginings of a BCM problem.. Been there done that myself.. Side note you prolly should have bought a 3800-II powered f-body.. Aside from some minor issues I've had a trouble free car.. No leaks , no rattles, no window motor issues (due to the fact I close the door by the door not the glass I suspect). I had a coil die over the winter due to water dripping on it, replaced the alt just because I wanted a shiney one, replaced the fuel pump, and repaired my BCM.. Just a fully loaded y87 minus leather and a v8.. Oh and replaced stablizer linkages, because one was broken so I did them all with moog replacements. Earlier like 5 years ago warranty replaced the PS pump....

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
i would suggest a new bcm possibly.
however onto your rant....are you the original owner ? how do you know what maintenance has been done and how the car was treated. your car is over 10 years old...pieces degrade with time ...if you expected this car to be bulletproof and not require maintenance you bought the wrong car. the bulb situation would be fixed with a 9 dollar socket, 3 dollar bulb and a 50-60 dollar housing ....done with that problem for years. the window motor's are fine..the passenger just needs more juice..a 30 dollar autotrix fix would solve that problem. leaky t-tops are usually caused by improper maintenance on the weather proofing and by the window motor not sealing completely. i am pretty sure in the manual it states that you should rub some type of grease on your weather striping to keep it from drying and from shrinking to create a much better seal. or blowing out the drainage passages since more than likely they are clogged with dirt and other nasty shit. so about 10 bucks there, or since the car is 10+ years old..needs new weatherstripping ..up to 200 dollars for replacement weather stripping..done with that for another 10 years.
your driveshaft snapping in half just sucks ...nothing you can do about that. vacuum tubes falling off is hardly gm's problem ..just plug them back in.
i guess what i am trying to say is any car you buy that is used and over a decade old will nickel and dime you.....shit any car out of warranty will nickle and dime you. that isnt gm's fault or anything...you can sell this car and buy any other car..and i can promise you will get nickle and dimed just as much if not more.
these cars can be mean bitches..trust me i know..i have had my headaches with my car..especially as of late..but i am not naive enough to think i could have done any better than gm..given the time/political and money constants. and it just helps to remember that our cars are over 10 years old ..and we have one of the top 10 engines every designed ..so we are lucky there.
stay strong and keep the bird...you will regret letting her go.
