I can lend a hand with suspension and alignment related questions. I've been known to locate a few suspension bits here and there as well.

Not To Change the Direction of this Tread, But
I just urethaned all the suspension links, sway bars and lowered the nose 3/8, rear 1/2, new struts and shocks with pedders products.
While installing adj radius arm I noticed the former owner tried to jack the car up by the cross member the arms affix - the left side - now my caster on the left side is at +10.8. Too far forward. The right side +8.6, so it's within the spec.
I went with the OEM set up, 2mm and 8mm on the arm. I'm thinking a 1mm shim will push the caster back enough to get me within spec?
I swapped the 4mm for the 2mm and threw my alignment way out.

You currently have the 2mm & 8mm on the radius rod behind the bush on both sides? Each 2mm shim equal a 1/4 degree change in caster. 2mm in front = 1/4 positive, 2mm in back = 1/4 negative.
Can you describe how the 4mm changed the alignment? Which way is the bracket bent?

[QUOTE=PartsGedder;2369153]You currently have the 2mm & 8mm on the radius rod behind the bush on both sides? Yes
Each 2mm shim equal a 1/4 degree change in caster. 2mm in front = 1/4 positive, 2mm in back = 1/4 negative. So I actually should swap the 2mm for the 4mm. Based on how described the swap below it sure seems like 2mm got more than 1/4 of a degree
Can you describe how the 4mm changed the alignment? By swapping the 4mm for the 2mm it tilted the steering about a quarter of an inch to the right and she wanted to go right. At least it felt like it. I didn't drive around a lot I was running of time, nor did I drive very hard to make sure everything was sitted. After I did all the links I drove it fairly hard and then went back and made sure everything was snug...
Which way is the bracket bent? The bottom of the cross member is bent up - I'm not sure it's impacting any thing. I bought the vehicle with 7,400 on it from the dealer the former owner bought it from brand new and that guy was swapping it for Torrent - sounds like a kid was on the way. It's not been hit based on car fax. I also am using the sports set up. Just eye balling the gap between the front of the wheel wells on both sides the 4mm and the 8mm pushed the left tire back further than the right side. I want to get both casters to ~+8,6Last edited by The Silver Goat; 06-26-2010 at 12:35 PM.
