Id recommend running the LT4 Hotcam setup. I know Im gonna catch alot of flak, for sayin it, but I loved it. Absolutely, trouble free. I was running the kit, Hooker LT's, true duals(dumped), 6AL box and coil, K&N intake, 58mm TB, custom tune, and a thousand other little mods. Out of an A4(no mods) I put out 360RWHP. Not bad for a LT4 package. I went with this setup, because at the time I didnt know much about valvtrain and ect... I also drove this thing 110miles round trip a day to/from work. Loud, wicked lope, decent milage, and launched hard.
PS: You cannot run a 58mm TB on an LT4 intake without porting the throttle openings.
And, Hes right, you cant run a LT4 intake with stock heads without ALOT of work.Screw that. LT4 heads are good heads.

Red- 2000 Trans Am A4
just read this thread for the first time...and i gotta tell you if your paying 670 for true duals thats a hell of alot. i got pacesetter longutbes with custom x-pipes no cats, run through little bullit mufflers and dumped at the axle. for my exaust excluding the headers i paid 370. so with the headers i paid about 700 so if your paying that for custom true duals look somewhere else cause that seems like alot especially compared to what i paid. and some people say that pacesetter sucks, but my car sounds freakin sweet and very loud. and oh yeah get the headers on before the custom pipes, that way there is no modding that has to be done after you get headers.

With an LT1, the heads are the factor. Apparently, you are not reading correctly. The LT4 kit is MORE than substantial. 360RWHP. Re read below.
You need all the help you can get with iron heads.

360rwhp has been achieved (or close to it) with a cam and untouched LT1 heads. Are LT4 heads a better design that will ultimately outflow LT1 heads at any given stage of porting? YES, however for most people, getting their LT1 heads ported will be more than adequate to meet their power goals.

Cant argue with that. Not going to. None the less, the implication that the
LT4 kit is a 'waste of money' is untrue, by alot of peoples' standards. Driveability, common tuning, all matched components, and proven power.
Take all the risks you care to take with having your heads 'ported' by someone.
Me...Ill buy matched components and know what Im getting.
360RWHP cam only on a stock head LT(or within 20HP)???? You must be confusing LSx...
Statements like this are a prime example why everyone has went over to
LS1Tech.
Mod or not...
Good luck with your Cappy. I would highly recommend visiting LS1Tech. I havnt been on here in YEARS for a reason.
