shifting rpm
when racing what rpm do you shift your m6? my car is stock.

I shift at about 6100 RPM. If I remember right, your peak power is at about 5,500 RPM. So Ideally, after you shift you want to be in the highest part of your powerband to maximize your car's potential.

I think redline on the LS1 is 6300 if I remember right. So after shifting at 6100 (when I start to shift) it probably is at about 6200-6250...hard to tell really without a digital read out or data logger.

I don't think any shop would raise your rev limiter without telling you

And you don't want to rev it past 6200 with the stock pushrods, they can't take it. I shift near 6150, sometimes I bump the rev limiter just before I shift. I've found this gets the extra couple tenths at the drag strip, instead of shifting at any lower RPM.

TRIPLE BLACK- 2000 CAMARO SS M6 #2100
Man, I guess I shift a lil low... I try not to ever let it go too far past 6k at all. Then again I have the stock pushrods in until I get off my lazy ass and put in the comp cams chromoly ones I’ve got collecting dust in the garage.

I'm right around the same of 6150-6200 or so. Every car is going to be a little different, so I'd say just practice with shifting at different rpms to see what gives you the better times. And because your stock I wouldn't go above 6000 rpm just to be safe.

Stop posting false information.
My car for example is a stalled A4 with a cam and nitrous (hardened pushrods of course). My rev limiter is set at 6800. It puts out it's best track times by shifting at 6500. I've bounced the rev limiter on the bottle at the track by forgetting to take it out of 2nd gear after my burnout. I not only did I launch in 2nd gear on a 200 shot, but I hit the rev limiter too. I reviewed the log and was amazed to see 7950 since it revved so fast on the bottle. I was lucky that the stock bottom end didn't let go.

Lifters shouldn't rattle around. I find that impossible to happen unless there is slack in the valvetrain. Now, a lifter may be on its way out and ticking
