Granatelli subframe connectors
I know there are 100+ SFC posts, but i haven't seen much about the granatelli SFCs. I picked up a set of these brand new for $49.99 from the vendor on ebay. They are weld in and i plan on having them done in the next week or so.
Anyone have any thoughts on them?
Anyone know a good welder in central new york (syracuse area)?
Thanks.

Just an FYI for the sub frame connectors to be most effective you need to have them welded in with the suspension/chassis loaded.

allegedly...i read that 1000x's on this forum (and others), but at the end of the day i decided to trust the guy who builds drag cars and had a 2000 Turbo SS sitting one bay over with a custom suspension and SFC's that he fabricated.
So let the flaming begin, but the car handles amazingly and there are ZERO leaks or creaks.
Like the above poster mentioned, it's all about finding a good welder who knows what he is doing and this guy knows.
by the way, no one has been able to provide a compelling argument to justify welding these in loaded....

it makes sense. I mean, what is the weight ratio on our cars? If it's 60 front, and 40 rear, the differences in weight alone should put different forces on the two ends of the sfc's.And the loading of the suspension pulls the wheels apart. Doesn't the same thing happen to the unibody? What did you paint your welds like? Would you want to weld in 3 pts?

When you add sub frame connectors you want to car to be setup as it on the road. The chassis needs to be under full weight and tension as if you were driving it. Have you ever jacked up the front of the car and placed jack stands under it? If you place the jackstands on the frame rail near the back of the front wheels you'll see the front settle as the weight makes the front sag. This is not a natural state. If it's on a two post lift the car is flexed and tweeked differently. This is an unnatural way for the chassis to be in. When you weld in the subframe connectors like this then you're basically keeping this unnatural flex in the chassis when you bring it back down.
Here's my crude paint drawing to help explain what's going on.
Green is the chassis natural state, red is the forces being acted upon the chassis and blue is the lift or jackstand.

While i do appreciate everyone opinions on this matter, let's let sleeping dogs lie...what's done is done, and it's my car and when it blows up and starts shooting flames out of the tie rod ends because i had my SFC's welded on the "wrong" lift, then i will come back and beg for forgiveness. Until then, I will drive my car and love it. Thank you all for your concern.
