I watched the GSG9 vs SWAT one... It was entertaining but the "simulation" was retarded.

Yeah, saw the hour and a half one last week where it was a match up of the best ancienct warriors Spartans vs. Samurai and the modern warriors, Spetznaz vs. IRA. Haven't seen this week's yet. It's a pretty cool show.

Sometime their match ups are surprising and others a little one sided.

I guess it's fine for entertainment, but I think these types of shows take BS to a whole new level. Any true student of military history can quickly set the record straight that the biggest flaw of any warrior is their arrogance. To think they know their opponent better than the opponent knows their own self has lost more fights than we could ever count. These types of shows are way too insistent on the personna of the subject warrior. No one else knows what ran through the mind of Alexander the Great or whomever at the critical moment. We are only guessing. It could be that a bad decision was made, but audaces fortuna juvat. Luck [or good fortune] cannot be deciphered. Such guessing is a big reason why WWI happened. Read "The Guns of August" and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I agree and I do believe they intentionally leave some technical info out of modern tactics like the IRA, Speznet, SWAT, Green Berets and GSG9.
example in point - IRA used AK-47's and was supplied by Russia. GSG9 is an Anti-Terror unit not a Police dept unit. Just some of a few errors, but overall a good show and your right entertaining but never to be taken seriously. If anything it gives historical info on warriors.

I hope this isn't a hi-jack, but this is the video of the rabbit vs. rattler. It shows how the perceived superior warrior ain't always the victor.

It's great when I know other people can understand that. With your background I'm sure you and I see a similar picture here. I get a little worried when a lot of others take such shows too seriously and base their decision-making on what the "boob tube" portrays, rather than what happens in real life.
Take care.
