you cant fix it without replacing the panel and glue. the glue from the factory causes the bubbles. when the glue gets warm it creates air bubbles underneath it. their is glue out now that will not cause the bubbles but it will likely result in a new panel because they are so flimsy and the oem glue is so strong. so imo just keep bouncing from shop to shop and try to get the glue and panel so they dont charge extra for parts.

This......
You can have it sanded and repainted for a cheap fix but they will return no matter what is tried with the original piece. Any body shop that is seriously familier with our cars should know this and should have passed this info on to you. I'd do as bubba say's and keep looking around. Also now that you know about what causes the issue you can go into these shops armed with a little knowledge so that in the future noone can try to blow smoke.... Good luck. ...and I await mine to start bubbling soon too. It's just another one of GM's bright ideas passed on to the consumer...

$300.00 more, and you get the job done right.
You will NOT EVER have to worry about it again.
Replace the whole sail panel.
Even the new sail panels are not the same material as the original. The new ones are almost like the bumper urethane material "non Porous".
Thanks, Roger

no but it is easier to notice in black. mine happens to attract all the pollen from my neighborhood. it is annoying. but year and color have no relevance. it is the glue used from the factory which was used on all 4th gen years, it is more of a matter of time and the vehicles lifestyle. mine is outside in the vegas heat quite a bit and originally from arizona so i get the feeling the heat amplifies it. but i dont have another f body to make a comparison.

$1300 for parts and labor is cheap go for it. i got a estimate from gm dealer and it was $1800 for the job. so i ordered the panel from gmpartsdirect for $530 ship to my door on sale.

I had a few estimates done on mine but this was like 5 years ago. All were between $750-$900 area. Earlier 4th gens, LT1s I believe were uneffected. 98s also I believe. White cars may be less effected as the darker colors absorb more heat. I ended up getting GM to pay for it under the 6 year corrosion warranty. No chance of that now tho.

I believe hardtops are included but i could be wrong. Think 98 didn't have the problem. I'd have to do a little more research
