    instrument cluster swap

hey everyone, i have an 01 ws6, and the stupid little led for the check engine light is stopping me from passing emissions, the question is, can i just simply swap an instrument cluster from another firebird, and plug and play? and no, i cant fix the led simply, and the clusters are cheap. thanks

They are plug and play, but I'm pretty sure it won't get rid of the check engine light.

    Why is the light on?

It shouldn't be that hard to disassemble it and remove the led.

no, you are all backwards. I got the diagnostic tool and know y the light should comeon. I say should because it doesnt work and the last guy did what you are suggesting and removed the led. now it wont pass emissions. I ordered a used cluster and I will just take it in and out every two years to pass emissions with. just a pain in the ass is all.

I think I misunderstood. So the car is throwing a code, but the light doesn't come on because the LED is missing?

It still shouldn't be that hard to replace the LED I wouldn't think...
