Ok, so I will admit that I know almost nothing about nitrous. I'm thinking of putting a kit on my '01 WS6. It is completely bone stock for now because I have to get a new engine. The engine is going to stay almost stock for a while just because I cant afford to do to much with the car. I'm going to do the basic intake/headers/exhaust deal and all but I want a little something extra. If I got a small nitrous kit, would the stock engine be able to handle it? I dont want to spray anything to big but I would like to have a little boost when I go to the track or find something fun to play with on the street. Can anyone help me out and point me in the right direction?

Oh, and the car is just a weekend car. It is not my dd so I dont have to worry about that. Just a project car I picked up to fix with a dead engine.

    Wet or dry?
    Fogger, EFI, or direct port?

Wet and EFI is Electronic Fuel Injection, so that is what you're looking for. A lot of people are going with plates that go between the Throttle Body and Intake Manifold, , but I went with a nozzle, so I could "hide" it from the inexperienced looker.

Lol, nice. How hard is it to install the EFI system? It seems the Fogger system would be the easiest out of all of them. And I'm just looking for a little boost, not something big time. What's the plus to running EFI over fogger if I'm not going to use it that much? The hiding part does sound good to me............. but there's not really anywhere to hide the bottle, lol.

wet shot with the nozzle and mount the bottle in the spare tire compartment. assuming it isnt a big bottle. 100 shot will be plenty for you as a starter. some say when you go 150 or higher that you need to pull timing. which i would do if i used nitrous but i dont. i do wish i could play with mine more. but its my dd.

well my f-body isnt the one with that mileage. it only has 92k on it. my dd with the 240k is a '95 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS (the non-turbo one ). i'm on engine number 3 and transmission number 2 and I've lost count of how many starters I've gone through.

low end dsm. i dont think ive seen or heard of any dsm on original motor or tranny. i know a lot of the local ones have laundry lists of problems and they talk about my car like its a pinto or something. i just laugh and get to wherever i need to go on my 120k original motor, tranny, and rear end.

I had a 97 Eclipse RS auto. That thing i had for 10 months and was at the dealer 4 1/2 months of it. Tranny problems, electrical problems and so on. My friends 97 GST has given him nothing but problems but i can fault the car too much since he has modded it. All the money he dumped into it($16,000+) and it manages 330 FWHP and still didnt run right since last i saw it, tranny, clutch and rebuilt motor was always its problem. When it was running good meaning the GST Eclipse, my 01 M3 6speed Vert with bolt ons at the weight of 3781 LBS would keep up with it. My 93 Z with 166,000 on it when i first bought it and sold at 220,000 miles and running 150 shot of nitrous most of the way never gave me a motor issue and i had to replace the tranny once because of several track days and over shifting it. I take responsibility of that for being a crappy driver.

Yea, those cars always have issues. Mine was the same way. I was on a first name basis with all of the techs and the parts guys at the local Mitus dealership. I wont ever buy another Eclipse unless it's a '97-'99 GSX manual. Other than that, I'm done with DSM. For my next dd, I'm looking at getting a truck or a good performance based sedan like a BMW M5 or an Audi S4 or something along those lines. I would love to keep with Pontiac and get a new G8 GXP but they were out of my price range when you actually could get one new and now they're just too rare to find a used one.

Yea, those cars do too well with high performace if they arent meticulously maintained. I know some guys who have 600bhp+ GSX's and GST's that hold up really well. But they are full on into preventititve maintenance.

DSM = Dangerously Sucks Money (for the Mitsubishi 4G63 engine)
or DSM = Dammit!!!!!! Stupid Motor......... (for the N/A Eclipses with the Chrysler motor)
and just in general DSM = Demands Serious Maintenance.

Well, a recent used one is deff. out of my price range lol. I'm lookin at like a 2001-2003 model. Around here, those usually go for around $11k with about 100k miles on them. The cheapest used G8 GXP I've seen was $38k.
