That is the most truthful post i've read in a long time man.
My mother is going to be 37 years old this year, and i'm 17, she has no idea how to put a spare tire on her car, I had to come to her rescue about 20 min. ago and change the tire for her since my dad is still at work and she doesn't know how to do anything with the car except press the little button to go in D R or P.
I am not surprised at all the man in the Prius had no clue how to stop his car from accelerating rapidly. People in this day and age really just don't know anything about cars for some reason.

This is why I sat my teens down and make them work on the cars with me. Told them you want to drive, you must learn how to take care of the car. My niece can change brakes, common maintenance stuff (filter, oil, plugs...), rotate tires, know when the tires are worn and need replaced. She's the first to volunteer to help me work on my T/A. She just turned 17 and she's been working on cars with me since she was 13. The boys are now of age to start working on the cars too. I'm doing the same thing. As I tell them, how do you know when your getting good mechanical advice from a stranger if you have no idea what they are talking about?

Very well said Dena. You folks need to get a grip on this 'it's all the idiot drivers fault'. We haven't been the situation these folks have been in and thusly, don't have any room to talk. And Toyota would not be dropping coin on commercials and wasting time on massive recalls if these were simply driver errors.

Thanks. It's true. I can only imagine what my mother would do in a situation like this. I picture her screaming like a little girl and losing it.
But, she's not stupid and never even had as much as a speeding ticket in her life.
I'm pretty sure she's never even gone over 70 mph. Me, I was learning how to do burnouts the day I got my first car.
And, there you go there

EXACTLY
like Jeremy Clarkson said on episode #62 of Top Gear while chatting with Jay Leno.
If you drive a crappy car - it means you have no interest in cars
which translates into - you're No Good at driving
quit making the crappy cars - and revoke the non interested peoples licenses
whoooo raaaHH

However, driving nice cars are also very shitty drivers. Come to the Houston 'burbs for proof
