So that being said, get the 3.91's with a t56 the difference is not what you think it is in gas mileage. The acceleration however is much better. It'll feel like a totally different car

    Ahhhh. I see. I wonder how much tq I will gain. I think I'm gonna call the shop tomorrow and ask for the 3:91s if they can't find the 3:73s. I will just have to watch how I drive with the new gears.

    I went from 3.23 to 3.73 on our A4. Even that is by no means a drastic change -- a few hundred rpm at cruising speed is all I expect to see different.

    Yah, a friend of mine with an 05 goat told me he had a 300 rpm increase with his A4 trans. He's been hounding me to get 3:91s since I met him.

    I agree. I have had many people tell me with the mods done to the motor I should go with taller gearing...especially with 3:91s.
