Navy Blue Metallic- 2000 T/A Firehawk M6
Got the hawk out and wanted to share
So this weekend was AMAZING in NYC. I couldn't resist taking it out and get cracking on prepping the car for the summer. I had put her away wet and dirty in the fall and paid the price in filth when i got her out. I washed her but haven't done any detailing yet. Even though it's not up to my standards yet I just wanted to share what I saw when I checked the paint condition coming out of hibernation.
It was getting close to sunset so there is a decent amount of noise in the photos.... thanks cellcam!!! lol Anyway enjoy! Feedback and comments welcome!
You can see some of the stubborn filth i'll be dealing with in this pic.... arrrghhh... last time i let rain and my hawk meet lol.
There was a pic i took before washing with mah lady leaning on the car but when the camera snapped her eyes were mostly closed so i'm sure she would kick my ass for posting it.
I am so amazed by how much fun this car is to drive. I would put 100,000 miles a year on it if I could lol. I just love being behind the wheel. I had a few moments of shenanigans this weekend. A lil sliding here a quick chirp there a WOT blast thrown in between... Ahhh.... I love nice days

Looks great and I agree. Take some clay bar to those water spots.

i've been interested in some zaino. I'll prob be working one section at a time till i'm happy with the results. I did some general overview type stuff yesterday. Identified the trouble areas. Removed a couple of scratches. Got what I think is the majority of the dirt that had dried up on the paint. There are still a few spots and from sitting out last summer and getting quick washes with crap wax onI can see the making of some very light swirls super fine imperfections in the paint. My paint isn't a 10 to begin with. It's a 50k mile car that obviously lived outdoors and was driven for 5 years or so before getting scooped up by a collector. It has a few scratches and one chip on the hood that pisses me off to no end.
I just need to line up my products and wake up bright and early one day and spend 10-12 hours doing every last detail on the car..... then wake up bright and early the following week and spend another 10 hours on the interior
To tell you the truth the pics don't do the paint justice.... Yes it's not flawless but it looks damn near mirror smooth from those angles in person.... the camera did add a LOT of noise because of the fading sunlight.

from what i've seen, apply some z5 (i think) filler coats and cap that with z2 wax coats and you'll feel like it's a new paint job

Thanks Rich. Can't wait to get to cruising again. the ride back from PA was nice. Though maybe next time we can roll more than just two cars
Would you believe I wanted to ditch that wing before I bought the car? I was pretty strongly against it to the point I almost didn't make the trip to see the car. Pics just don't do it justice. In person it's a very nice compliment to the car.

Beautiful hawk man, wow. That street you live on looks almost identical to the street that I live on, thats pretty weird.
But again, nice, nice ride man.

To the OP... you make it sound like the paint will melt with the car sitting for a few months. If you keep the surface cleaned and protected, a little dirt and dust left on it wont hurt anything.
And BTW, Zaino isnt bad stuff, but it's second rate in the grand scheme of detailing products. I'd step up to something better if you want the best out of the finish. Get yourself a porter cable or flex buffer, and some better products and go to town.
